Given - happy enough with experienced, though slighty injury prone, replacement for Freidal. Didn't realise it was a 5 year contract on huge money.

Hutton - again didn't realise the extent of his contract based on cutting cloth as prior to him joining had him as a solid pro, no more.

CNZ - again happy with recruitment, didn't realise how much we were paying him, probably double what he was on at Wigab

Jenas - dear god less said about it the better. A person with 20 good games over a whole career.

McLeish's best signing was probably Robbie Keane.

I thought Given had a good season under Mcknobsac. Went away half injured to the Euro's and looked finished as a keeper, slow reactions. Then looked shit for us against Everton and didn't really get a look in again.

Hutton, crap transfer, another job for  his mate transfer.

Nzgobia, crap transfer, he'd tried to sign him for the knuckle draggers and couldn't meet his wage demands so it fell through.

Jenas, joke transfer, might aswell have picked some up from Heartlands hospital as we all knew how that would play out.

Robbie Keane says it all, came into the side for a short period and without ever playing with his team mates ran the show and looked head and shoulders above anyone else in the team. Wish he was in the tean now.

Couldn't agree more. I couldn't believe how ordinary the squad looked when we introduced a player of real quality, and the squad is even worse now. How far we have fallen over the last few seasons is beyond belief

A creative player would be a big help and bring out more from Westwood. I often think that Westwood gets made to look poor because no bugger in front of him moves. Delph is happy to take on the ball, but he cannot be everywhere at once. A player buzzing around in front of Delph and Westwood would at the least give us the tip of a triangle and a central forward option.

If this player is of quality, then him dropping off drags players out of position and makes space for our more static players. I think we really need another attacking wide forward who can do the role Andi has been asked to properly. A couple of players like that would completely change the dynamic of how we play.

It's far too easy to come to Villa Park and when not in possession, have your defence and midfield hold a simple disciplined line. The play is constricted, so what are you going to do Villa? Work it around in a bow shape going nowhere or pick out a magic cross. That is why we play on the break as it is the only time we force space.

A centrally creative midfielder and another more advanced would offer patterns to our play that are just not present. We can still pick out the magic cross, we can still blitz you on the break, but we can also feed that ball into a player who is sitting in-between the space between your midfield and defence, who may work it to a wide player who is on the move and has your centre half moving closer to his full back or vice versa. You want to stop that, then your midfield can always squeeze even tighter to the defence, but we will push our full backs right on and put those crosses in from a lot closer. Options and variety are key.

Whether Lambert is in charge or not, the problem remains the same and it is an infuriatingly simple one to solve in my opinion.

The poll seems quite a landslide.

62% want him gone (either now or in the summer) and a further 13% want him gone unless there's a drastic improvement in the last 6 games (not sure what that would tell us mind). If that doesn't tell the board which way the supporters are thinking nothing will.

Not that they'll listen, and come next season it'll be more of the same useless shite with an ever decreasing attendance.

Exactly the same was being said towards the end of the Mcleish season.

Don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere but anyone else heard that culverhouse and Cowans clashed again at BH.
The sooner we are rid of Lambert and his useless methods and ineffective , arrogant, aggressive coaches the better. Wankers.

Certainly seems worth checking out if these rumours continue to surface, if only to eliminate them from our enquiries.

I didn't even know they'd clashed before. When was that?

There was a thread on here last week about an alleged incident between them but it was pulled as it was libelous I believe.

McLeish's best signing was probably Robbie Keane.
His best signing was the termination settlement.

Can everyone please avoid speculating on potentially libelous stories with no actual proof.

Can everyone please speculate away, as libellously as possible? My fellow lawyers have families to feed and mortgages to pay you know!
