ozzyjim, dont agree re Sylla as he is like my lovemaking, but Clark can do a good job as a defensive midfielder, but Lambert said straight away that wasnt his position and like some other people, this person is not for turning. We have some decent players but it seems the players aint got a clue what to do IMHO

Turner was as culpable as McNeill, Docherty had us bottom, O'Leary proved he couldn't do it without money and somehow managed to alienate the squad and support under Dougs nadir. McLeish goes without saying and Dr Jo may have been ahead of his time, but he was still poor.

Taylor, Little and Atkinson all had seasons equivalent to this one or the previous one, so even our very best in recent years have their wobbles. I would put all three above Gregory and O'Neill though.

Oh for FFS get a grip mate, O'Neill get 3 consecutive top 6 finishes! We'd die for that now!

You do realise he said SGT, Atkinson and Sir Brian were better than Pubehead, not that Lambert was?

As I said earlier, get a grip mate, I know you're trying to make out O'Neill was the Anti Christ but no matter how you try you won't change history. His Villa teams finished top 6 three years on the trot, but since he left we've we've become perennial relegation strugglers. This is a fact - nothing you will say will change this.

Match prep looks terrible, we are getting taken to the cleaners tactically by very limited managers. When something good comes off on the pitch its very much off the cuff and we don't see much if anything we have worked on day to day.

I honestly think you might want to read what he said. You seem to be reacting to an argument which nobody has started except you.

It doesn't matter whether we'd kill for that now. That's not what he said.

I have tried to support all managers since Vic Crowe RIP, but this is a joke and has to be rectified. It is not just the manager though

Richard, what point are you trying to prove when telling people you knew all along this how it would end up? None of us really know how things are going to turn out, and if you end up being right or wrong it still doesn't mean you knew it all along. Right now, I don't see any value in scoring points. We should all be in this together, and for the first time most people on here are of the same opinion. It's not a good day.
TV you are the only one trying to score points and start on people tonight.

Excuse me for butting into your dispute but I completely disagree.  You and Richard in particular seem to be revelling in how right you've been all along.  I've found your tone hostile and provocative when referring to or addressing anyone who might not have been as clever as you (ie. anyone who hasn't been calling Lambert a "moron" and an "idiot" for at least a year).  Toronto has, relatively speaking, come across as a voice of reason, and your reaction is to be smug and condescending.  I've seen a few of you do this on here recently; you fuel an argument with a vociferous outburst, and then have the nerve to claim the moral high ground when a few more level-headed people take exception to your attitude.  And then you back each other up with a grin and a wink and it's other people who "hunt in packs".  You don't come across as being overly pleasant.  Sorry if that takes the edge of your champers but I felt the urge to say it.

I now await you all proving my point with your accusations of wanting to be a moderator, waiting in the wings, being sanctimonious, all that guff.  You can set your clock by it, eh DC5?

Nobody revels in our predicament, particularly those who are not so blinkered as to know that we are in one.

Richard is revelling in it, big time.  He said so himself.  Weakens your argument a tad.
Can you please show me where I have been revelling about us losing.I tell you what don't bother looking for it because I haven't.

I wasn't going to bother, thanks.  I didn't say you were revelling in us losing, I said you were revelling in being right.  Anyway, I have no interest in getting into a childish argument with you.  The point I made, which I stand by, is that there is an anti-Lambert "pack" (to pick a topical term) that seems to be taking an undue amount of pleasure in having their long-term gripes seemingly validated by our latest defeat.  Richard has admitted his joy.  You have aligned yourself with him on this thread and others.  Whether you mean to or not, you're contributing to a stench of revelry.

How does someone saying in a thread which has gone slightly OT to people rating Villa managers, that he thinks SGT, BFR and Sir Brian are better than MON having anything to do with Lambert or where we are now? And why for posting that POV does he need to get a grip?

"There is no value in trying to score points".

Did Lambert say this?
