The floaty-corners were requested by the Beast.

Pity they are rarely accurate then :(

Didn't he score one against Norwich?
Not really, it was one of the few that Westwood has whipped into the six yard box. Making it even more strange that we persist with them - a change and we score.

I remember the floaty corners working against Sunderland and Reading last season, but not too many others.

The away form is better than the home form, but I think we're labouring under the impression it is as impressive as it was a few months ago.

In the away game only table, we are 10th.

And mid table is what I class as acceptable for this season.

If we were comfortably mid table I'd agree, but if Sunderland win one of their games in hand, we're only 6 points off the bottom three. Also, we're only one point ahead of Hull who have not had the money, resources etc of our so called project.

I think Sunderland's games in hand are Liverpool and Citeh, both away.

I think they're at Anfield tomorrow night. Tricky, to say the least.

They strike me as utterly useless.

I understand the idea that if midget ears wants them, he gets them, but I don't know why he wants them.

They just don't seem to work. Like you said, the Norwich one was whipped in, and Benteke meeting something like that with pace is lethal. Those floaty ones just look wasted.

And especially so against a side whose defenders will get a good grip on and hold down any attacker who is not on the move.

Our corners are poor, as are our thow ins, which are both basic coaching...

They aren't floated corners though, they are driven with quite a flat trajectory. If it's how your main goal threat wants them delivered it would be perverse not to oblige. Of course there could be some variety now and then but in itself it is not a bad ploy.

My view has not changed since last season, I think the job is too big for him and at times he finds himself out of his depth on tactics as well as the running of a club the size of Villa.

At times we can play well, but as others have commented these are dwafed by the poor performances:

Man City 5 Villa 0
Chelsea 8 Villa 0
Villa 0 Wigan 3
Villa 0 Spurs 4
Villa 0 Crystal Palace 1
Villa 0 West Ham 2
Villa 1 Stoke 4
Villa 3 Bradford 4 [over two legs FFS]
Millwall 2 Villa 1
Villa 1 Sheffield Utd 2

Not to mention the record breaking piss poor runs we have had and now we are the dirtiest team in the league!

Hardly positive points on a CV
OK what else have you got?

He's a kid. No one should listen to him.

We really are poor at corners and throw ins. It is bizarre. It seems like something addressable in training and yet week after week little change.

And the same has been said of our defensive frailties ... "what do they do every day in training?"

I'd like to see bacuna take over the corner job from Westwood now and again .

Imagine how scary that would have looked circa 2010-11.
