9 defeats (two seasons running) is a record for a 38 game season and a joint all time record! With three games left to go I wouldn't be surprised if he beat it...

Another one he can add to his ever growing list of achievements.

Awful record.

Out of the three remaining home fixtures, we should be winning at least two of them. Especially Fulham, surely we can't lose that one?
We can because I will be at it. I travel home for 4 games a year. I have not seen us win in league since we beat Man City with a Gabby hatrick. I have seen us lose to Wigan, Sunderland, Sheff Utd amongs others and have not seen us win in the cup since we beat Burnley in the League Cup back in 2009. I will be at the Fulham game so it is nailed on for a Fulham win

Why do we insist and falling over ourselves to be the most pissed off at the home form, while ignoring the away form?  They all got into the same table at the end of the season, one which presently has us in mid table and most likely will after 38 games are played.

Why, because most fans watch us at home, and the home form is totally unacceptable.

So, if the home and away forms were reversed, we'd all be happy bunch of campers?

Well no, seeing how we've picked up the same amount of points away from home.

So, we've got an even amount of points home and away and sit mid table overall?

Sorry, but as we rebuild the playing side of things I find it hard to be angry with that.

I'm pleased for you - this is Aston villa not hull city or stoke .

You mean I've been posting on the wrong forum all this time?

Yes.  And we want the name change ourselves!  I should hope you agree!

Come on the Tigers!

Nearly two years, looking like the second season in a row we will end up higher in the table.

What's the argument for sacking him?

The most insipid home performances ,a horrific home record results wise .
Humiliated regularly by lower league sides in cups.
The dreadful style of football.
Lack of a plan B.
The prospect of more of the same.

Cant argue with the first two.

I would suggest that Lambert is modern tactically. He adjusts a lot (possibly too much) but his in his heart he wants us to play as a very high energy pressing team that is an expert at the moment of transition with the full backs being a key part of any use of space.

I am not saying we DO play like that every game but I think that is the direction he is going. Obviously when the chips are down he is more than happy to bypass midfield and use Tekkers as an outlet. Personally I far preferred early last season when we played possession based football. Even though we lost more often than not :)

One other point in Lamberts favour, I think he has made some cracking signings. I know I am in a minority opinion but I really like them , pretty much all of them.

The Paul Lambert Thread.  It would be interesting to run the poll again following the stoke result so see who thoughts had altered.  I really want to like Lambert, I like the fact we really attack the top teams, borne out by results.  We are Aston Villa, we should fear no one.  I like the fact he invests in youth.  And the wage structure seems far more...well....structured.

On the downside, we are not putting away the average teams.  Which is frustrating, as if we have the skill to beat the sky4 teams, we should have the skill to put away the Skyrelegation teams.

And when plan A isnt working...which to be fair seems to be lumping it up to Benteke.. plan b seems to be even more direct.  Getting it right against average teams without losing our ability to get results against the top teams is the key.

Our options are (hopefully) slow improvement under Lambert.  He is a young guy and learning himself.  Or sacking him and replacing him with A.N.Other manager.  That scares me.  Who is out there we really want.  Who would long term improve us.  Its not so long since these pages had lines wanting Moyes, Jol, Ole and the rest.  The status quo at least seems to be making some steps forward.

I don't rate Lambert as a manager, I think he has made some horrendous mistakes, his tactics and set-up of the team have been poor at times as well as all the embarrassing records he has set.

But.... how much better would the best manager available to us do with the current financial limitations... top 8?? Really doesn't change a lot does it, hence the apathy around the club at the moment.

Apparently that means you don't understand "self-depreciating humour" (sic.)

He has indeed made some good signings  - no question.

We've lost 9 home games already this season and you're not even the slightest bit angry with that?

You can't expect people to be angry just because you're angry. Support dosen't work like that.

I think Lambert is tactically inconsistent like his team. On occasions he's played a blinder. On occasions he's got it all wrong.
