I'm not saying that every manager from UK is crap, or that every Scottish manager is...
If Sir Alex like to come to VP who in their right mind would say no to him?
But I do think that Villa would benefit from a dose of "change" management.
When things have been done along the same patterns for too long it risks getting bypassed by new and improved ideas.
Historical greatness is something to remember and be proud of, but living in the past is another thing...

Always playing a countetrattacking game as a underdog scrapping to steal points, having the worst possession in the league (apart form West Ham and Palace) and losing more at home then away is not the future I wish for this glorious club....

Whatever happens at the end of the season, he has to go. We simply cannot afford to have another season of the dross that he serves up.

I'm a latecomer to the party but I've had enough of Lambert's tactics and lack of interest in playing modern football too. If I were Randy, I would be paying particular attention to which managers are or might be available, both now and in the summer. I pray that we survive again (rather than sleep walk our way into a relegation, which we're at risk of doing) but I also wouldn't want to rush into a managerial appointment just because they're not Paul Lambert. I'm really sick and tired of poor appointments and then having to rip everything up and starting all over again.

I have been one of the first fans and sponsors of Lambert when he was at Norwich and played an entertaining, passing, attacking football with the diamond formation.

But once realised that at Villa he has become another kind if manager, I would have sacked him three monts ago.

Today, with the loss against a team that was in free fall, I have lost the faith to avoid relegation with Lambert on the bench.
I adore England and the English football, but this does not prevent me from seeing its unique but enormous defect. In England stability is highly overated, clubs prefer to be relegated instead of sacking the manager, as it if were an infamous act.
Ok, in Italy we go to the opposite extremes, it is true, but did you see how Tony Pulis, that is not Pep Guardiola, changed Palace?
We'll probably sack our clueless manager when it'll be too late.

I have been watching football all over the world since 35 years, and I have never seen a team of first division absolutely unable to make two ground passages  in a row. A team whose tactics are dreadful and whose sole gameplan is to throw the ball from the goal keeper to the center forward, stepping over the midfield.
My local team,  that is struggling to avoid relegation in the Italian third division, compared with the current Villa side, looks like Barcelona. . .

I hope that facts will prove me wrong, but I have the strong impression that next season there will be only two claret and blue teams in Premier League, Burnley and West Ham.

are there any good english speaking Italian coaches who might be interested in coming to Villa in the summer?

I agree, but think that PL should finish this season and prove what he has set out to do. If so, then he should continue and build on it.

However. If Villa are no further forward than last year then bring in the change of management.

No problem in principle with anybody, as long as they are absolutely the best for this glorious club!

Roberto Mancini, Cesare Prandelli, Francesco Guidolin and Vincenzo  Montella would be (are)  fantastic managers that make their teams play a modern, entertaining football. Do not know if they speak a good English, though, but no problem, at  Birmingham people speak a strange language that has nothing to do with the English that we learn at school in Italy. :-)

Lambert will be gone end of season if folks don't renew their season tickets. Problem is, loads of people will renew and then moan next season about another drab season.

I'll renew because I support Aston Villa, regardless of who the manager is.

Currently our record this season is worse than AM's season so how one was sacked and the other is up for a 3 year contract is beyond me.

Be careful with over-hailing Laudrup. We need an idealogue and a drill seargent rolled into one, and Laudrup is too relaxed in his approach - a bit too 'Jol'.

He has somehow also managed to actually regress from McLeish's pitiful home record. That in itself would be a sackable offence at any other club.

[/qui a. ote]iI agree with that. I honestly believe that a new manager should be given 3 years to justify his position. 1st year he had to reduce wage bill and get rid of wasters who were on big money and find cheap alternatives. At the end of last year we all thought this had been done. This year should have shown improvement, and did for a bit= Arsenal away, Man city home. But our failure to show any consistent home form is a massive worry. We will stay up this year because it's such a poor Premier league. Next year is the start of Lamberts 3rd year, if there is no improvement by Xmas we should look at a change.
