Sorry DCF are you saying our singing Paul Lambert's claret and blue army at Norwich was indecent?   Your paragraph starts (I think) with reference to McLeish but ends with what happened at Norwich.
I was saying that the treatment that Alex McLeish got was disgraceful and unwarranted. Singing for Lambert was out of order, though, and totally embarrassing for all concerned. Very small time.

That singing was nowhere near as embarrassing as the spineless way McLeish used to set us up.

Those were some of the most embarrassed occasions I've had as a Villa fan, disgracefully negative.

At least Lambert wants to play attacking football but can't. McLeish didn't even want to. Hence the almost total lack of support for him on here.

I was asked a question about Lambert / Alex McLeish and answered it.  McLeish has gone. We now have to deal with the current incumbent.

No, the poster brought up singing about Lambert at Norwich. You brought up McLeish, no-one else did.

So what?

You just said the absolute complete opposite. I've bolded it for you.

Keeping you on your toes tonight.

The classic 'I'm wrong' cop out you mean.

Not at all. I don't retract a word of it, my learned friend. Any singing about Lambert was obviously anti-McLeish.

I would honestly prefer Hoddle to come in as manager. Say what you like, but he would have us playing football and with more balance than this buffoon.

He hasn't managed for about ten years, has he? We saw from Graham Taylor's second reign that appointing someone who has been out of the game for ages doesn't work... and Taylor was a far better manager than Hoddle to begin with. Add in the fact that Hoddle is a bigotted arsehole and it's a "no" from me.

To expect Hoddle to have an instant affect after 10 years out of the game would be unfair.  And while he is relearning the ropes we're in a ropey position in the league.

At least Hoddle would try and get the team playing football

That's the rub though mate. The players aren't good enough to execute it.

I'd imagine hundreds of potential candidates would attempt to employ a progressive style of football. I don't see the need to pick a bigot who has been out of football for a decade or so.

That's true but lambert bought them and is responsible for their coaching - the buck stops with him on the playing side.

Of course it does, but that's not necessarily a good reason to sack him now and bring in someone who can't do anything about it.

Villas managerial choices are stuck in semi-stationary equilibrium! Correct me if i am wrong but with the exception of Venglos and Houllier, every Manager has been from UK?
Quite alot of them have also been thick-headed former players from Scotland?

Maybe its time to bring in someone that can coach "in-game", with some modern tactical wit  and who can formulate a thought beyond "Pick ourselves up and go again" .....

Lambert was the right man for the job but somehow it's just not worked out.  Sadly it's looking like he has lost the plot so it's time to say good try but good bye...

I have been one of the first fans and sponsors of Lambert when he was at Norwich and played an entertaining, passing, attacking football with the diamond formation.

But once realised that at Villa he has become another kind if manager, I would have sacked him three monts ago.

Today, with the loss against a team that was in free fall, I have lost the faith to avoid relegation with Lambert on the bench.
I adore England and the English football, but this does not prevent me from seeing its unique but enormous defect. In England stability is highly overated, clubs prefer to be relegated instead of sacking the manager, as it if were an infamous act.
Ok, in Italy we go to the opposite extremes, it is true, but did you see how Tony Pulis, that is not Pep Guardiola, changed Palace?
We'll probably sack our clueless manager when it'll be too late.

I have been watching football all over the world since 35 years, and I have never seen a team of first division absolutely unable to make two ground passages  in a row. A team whose tactics are dreadful and whose sole gameplan is to throw the ball from the goal keeper to the center forward, stepping over the midfield.
My local team,  that is struggling to avoid relegation in the Italian third division, compared with the current Villa side, looks like Barcelona. . .

I hope that facts will prove me wrong, but I have the strong impression that next season there will be only two claret and blue teams in Premier League, Burnley and West Ham.

Sorry, but today's match was pretty dire. Newcastle looked exactly like a team that hadn't scored in four games, but even so it looked likely that they would score at some point today.

A temporary lack of form could excuse our lack of ideas, creativity and confidence. But doing the most basic of basics right would have earned us a point today. After 20 months in charge Lambert should have made his team manage that at least.

I'm not saying "Lambert Out" yet, but our performances need to improve, and we need to start winning more points against poor teams and teams obviously out of form to get us out of the looming relegation battle.
