Sorry, that was a cheap shot.   My generation does not have the latitude to accept Adolf Hitler as a subject of humour or levity.

I'm sure olaftab is not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation.

Reading posts by Monty and Brian I am inclind to think Hitler was good for Germany if only he had courted stability after his initial success in becoming their Fuehrer!

Very poor comment indeed.

Where do we stand on Genghis Khan?

He was better in Wrath of Khan than he was in Into Darkness.

Reckon he'd strengthen our midfield

I bet you did not know geneticists have proved that one in seven of the people on earth are directly descended from Ghengis Khan.   I am okay with Genghis he did not blow our house to smithereens in 1941.

Might have been one of his descendants though I suppose.

Is stability the right word in this context? I don't think so when you see that we are as stable as we were last season. I for one am not a fan of this stability.

Absolutely. I'm still waiting to hear what footballing reasons support the extension of Lambert's contract. I'm prepared for a long wait. I'm guessing it's simply Lerner likes Lambert so that's that.

Attempting to get back on topic after my ramblings my problem is that the word "stability" carries the implication of standing still, from the latin stare to stand.   "Continuity" or "consistency" (to me) implies movement, hopefully forward movement.

He didn't believe in stability either. His progress led to reforestation of huge parts of earth's surface so something good contribution towards global cooling.

I was hoping this would be a season of progress in the first half and consolidation in the second. We are not in a good place to consider stability just now.

At one point Steven Seagal wanted to play Genghis Khan in a film. That would have been quite something. I suppose if the Duke did, then Seagal felt he could. I'm not gonna argue with a guy who's a Sherrif in his spare time, and also counts Vladimir Putin and the Dalai Lama among his circle of friends.

I am worried for the rest of the season and do not believe Lambert should be given a new contract at this time

Getting it back to the contract for Lambert, still can't think of any reason to a) reward mediocrity with a new deal or b) set ourselves up for another huge 3 year pay off in the future.  It's not like he is a huge object of desire every time a new job comes up...if they must inflict more of his rubbish on us as a vanity exercise for Randy & his pals at least make it an easy exit 12 month rolling deal.

When he arrived I was sold on the fact we would play 'the right way' and his support team (Henke) would be lining up the players, a liberal sprinkling of decent players from the Bundesliga were expected, tat from poor quality Dutch league not...

Part of his job was to solve the home form garbage, he hasn't produced anything like an improvement on that, rewarding such ineptitude is crass IMHO.  Not sure we'll be selling many season tickets on the back of the retention of our world class manager! In fact I wonder how many will not renew on the back of the crap that we have witnessed at VP for the last 3/4 years...
