Yeah I got Lee was joking.
A poor attempt at acknowledging the joke, whilst venting frustration over the willful refusal by some to back up viewpoints with reasonable debate, and resorting to X,Y and Z is shit and it's always going to be shit, and if anyone says otherwise metaphorically sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting Nah, nah I can't hear you repeatedly.

I'll just shut up and stick my head back in the sand...

Based on how those of us with a less negative point of view seem to missing some obvious truth about how shit it all is, maybe "The Ostrich Club" would be a good name for us.

Then we can all strict our heads in the sand together.

The Villa have ruined many a glorious sunny day. I'll enjoy a weekend unsoured by a wretched footballing display even if it's pissing with rain and a tree gets blown into my flat.

The point I was making is that all his signings* have at one time or another, shown great potential but have failed to demonstrate a level of consistency or development

I'd have to disagree. I don't think most of them have shown 'great potential' at all. Rather lots of our fans overhyped certain players as they often do. Lowton, who you question what has happened to him in your post, is an example. He gained most of his plaudits for his offensive contribution but defensively he was always iffy. He was just not as bad as the others in the defence (not difficult given how woeful the defence last season were) which made him look better than he was. This season the defence has improved and he is now being exposed as a poor defender.

I think you have a selective memory. Last season Lowton showed signs of really developing, not only as an attacking full back and the best crosser at the club but also defensively. I can't remember who is was but there was one game last season where he had the perfect game, everybody on here was praising him as he didn't put a foot wrong. I'd also argue that our full backs are done no favours by Lambert's insistence of playing them very narrow, allowing opposing wide men both time and space to run at us.

That's not to say he was the finished article but something very solid to build on and develop which hasn't happened this season. The same can be said of Sylla, Weimann and Westwood, all failing to reach the heights of last season. All showed great potential and justified Lambert's investment and trust.

As for Lambert's tranfer record, I really can't believe some of the bollocks been spoken on here. I'd be really interested to hear the name of a manager, past or present, whose every purchase has been a gem. His record is more than decent and deserves a lot more credit than he gets when you consider the price and age of the players. His weakness to date is he doesn't seem to have the ability to develop their potential and combined with his poor tactical knowledge, he's the wrong man for the job. We're faced with a choice this summer, either change the restrictive parameters of the plan or find somebody else more qualified to execute it.

Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho have all got some shocking signings on their CVs.

I have a faultless signing record as manager on Fifa.

I sold Benteke to PSG for 45m and bought Lukaku. Hasn't worked out. Nothing replaces the beast I'm afraid.

Ferguson - Massimo Taibi, Juan Sebastian Veron
Wenger - Antonio Reyes
Mourinho - Torres :-) ok well I cant think of any but there are some.

Big difference being of course those above shocking signings were all significantly more than the £2m paid for Luna for example.

Much as I'd like yo pin Torres on Mourinho that was someone else. Can't remember who with the constant changes at that circus. (De Matteo maybe?)
However you can have £30M superstar Andrei Shevchenko. :-D
