I think 'hate' is a bit strong. I think his intentions in the first place were decent, but my issue is that he doesn't learn from his mistakes and we appear to be going backwards.

Fair enough. But I dislke him even more than I disliked O'Leary and McDogshit

Most of us seem to agree that this summer will be more about quality than quantity. We also seem to agree that when he spends more money on the likes of Benteke, Okore and Kozak he does well. So provided we have a decent finish to this season I would trust him with money in the summer.

Damo, can you define "decent"?

I agree with that, except for the 'will be' bit as I can't recall anything from the club stating this.

As I see it, we have the following who I'm sure we're all happy with:-
Guzan
Vlaar
Okore
Delph
Gabby
Benteke

Add Kozak to that as a reserve striker to that and Bertrand if we keep him, then we're looking for about 4 signings of a similar level to have a pretty handy side.  I'd be more than happy with the likes of Westood, Lowton, Clark and Weimann to be squad players and get a few games here and there.

Somewhat agree, but Vlaar and Gabby are both injury prone and Benteke is liable to leave at any moment, so that would put a huge dent in our 'handy side'.

I'm not sure I'd be putting gabby in there as a regular starter either to be honest - he is not a wideman and neither is he a natural goalscorer , on his day he is a valuable asset but his day is all too rare for me.

A good option off the bench with his pace late in games .

A finish that means we have improved on both last season's 15th place and last year's total of 41 points.

I thought much same about Gabby during MON's time here.  But in this Villa side he's one of the best players so starts whenever fit for me.

All about opinions, so fair enough .
For me he's a bit too inconsistent , I'd like a bit better quality up front with benteke.

I'd like to see some of our players when they play alongside better players. That obviously won't happen until next season now. Now, some still won't make it because they are just not good enough, others will blossom. In my opinion one of the reasons Weimann hasn't been himself this season is because Benteke post injury hasn't. When Benteke is at his best it lifts the entire team. You see the same effect when Vlaar is playing. You put 4 or 5 more proper players in that side and all of sudden not only does the first team improve, but as a squad everyone improves. They practice together and play together. It all rubs off in a positive manner. I've not given up on any player who has played a reasonable amount even if one or two are close to the edge.

Our best performances as a team usually coincide with Gabby being in the team. His pace and wrk rate consistently unsettle defences, meaning they have to sit deeper and thus create space for others.

This summer is the key. Keep signing £1-2m punts and unless they all turn into world beaters then we are in for more of the same which will piss me off. Sign 3 quality players and we could start kicking on, as well as helping bring on some of the current players.

In that Westwood/Lowton/Weimann/Clark bracket for me.  A promising player, but we need to work out his best position before he can move up to that 'must start' level.
