I don't think Lambert is worse than McLeish. That said, I do think that rushing into giving him an extension smacks of the same kind of warped thinking that lead to McLeish getting the job.

I don't why we are still talking about our previous manager when the current incumbent is the cause of our plight. McLeish has gone, forget him. It's this useless fecker you want to be worried about.

Yes the fans gave him a chance but as soon as things started to go wrong the fans turned on him. Lambert had and is still getting the benefit of the doubt even 18 months into a quite terrible tenure as Villa manager. There is no way McLeish got that much grace. He was hounded out (quite rightly) after just one season. Lambert though is still here inflicting pain onto the club, and I don't go with the "at least we can see what he's trying to do" line that some fans are claiming. Lambert's record since he took over is just bloody diabolical, you know that. Why the hell is he still in a job? It's infuriating!

Of course he's had longer, mostly because we'd just had the worst season most of us could ever remember, at least in terms of misery and hopelessness prior to him coming here, and he was the person most of us wanted.

I don't know what that surprises you?

I'm not even arguing McLeish got as much grace as Lambert, so I don't know why you're going down that route. I'm just pointing out the reasons he's had more time before people have turned.

McLeish came here when Houllier had just had us finish ninth. Lambert came here when McLeish had just managed to keep us up, and made us all think seriously about jumping in front of a lorry on the Expressway in the meantime. They are totally different circumstances in which to take over.

To suggest it's because he's not from Small Heath is absolute nonsense.

I had no problem with McLeish coming from Blues. In fact, if he were a good manager I'd have been bouncing if we'd nabbed him from the scummers.

Exactly.

Personally, had he been a decent manager, I'd have been particularly pleased that we'd nicked him from Blues, as, I suspect, would pretty much everyone.

Remember when the home support turned?
The Bolton game - how many matches in was that?
Didn't give him a chance? Please.

Also there's got to be a mentality issue with our team, because to concede two goals in two/three minutes once is one thing but to do it 3 times in 25 games is unforgivable.

This board are in for a very rude awakening in the summer when they send out their season ticket renewal forms.
I know of 6 plus the 3 I buy that won't by renewing next season.

Normally I hate these sort of posts but I've got to say there's 8 of us who are season ticket holders and we have been for at least a couple of decades (I've had one since the early 80s) and I can honestly say that for the first time ever everyone of us has said that we're not renewing next season. People can dismiss it as heat of the moment stuff, but honestly we've never even hinted at it before in all our years go going to the Villa. This is how pissed off with the club we are.

Lambert will not be getting a new contract , he will be gone by the end of the season. He is so clueless it's frightening.

There is no other way of telling the club how we feel though.

It doesn't mean that you don't go to the games, it just means they don't get the money upfront.
When I attend will use Viagogo; rets of the time will be at Stourbridge

Pretty sad when you start wishing Steve Bruce was your manager. Can anyone tell me why lambert got the villa job ?  Why has this great club been dumbed down so much !!

Steve Bruce. Oh yeh, he's got a stellar PL record doesn't he? Fuck me.

If Lambert is going to persist in this long-ball rut he's got himself into, then there aren't many PL managers I wouldn't swap for. I hate this shit we've played for much of this season.I hated it when McLeish did it, and I hate it when Lambert does it.

It's soul destroying cack, and we should be above that.

When I have posted after several games that everyone I know are appalled by our performances, and there are loads of them who are long standing regular match attenders, I have been ridiculed by the happy clappers on here. We are shit and there is no sign of things getting better. As expected, the volume of happy clappers has now gone down. Until we register our collective disgust with the situation at Villa Park, we will stagnate.

This is it, it might be ok for Stoke or Crystal Palace or whoever but Aston Villa should be above this.

Are they really as bad as us to watch? Our football seems to succeed in both being crap to watch AND ineffective.
