Because Martinez didn't have the bottle for the toughest job in top flight football.

Statistically didn't mcleish do a better job though ?

Maybe not, but he didn't do such an appreciably worse one than Lambert so as to explain the massive difference between one getting the sack and the other being offered a new contract mid season. Baffling.

In the real world it was probably more to do with the fact he'd have to rid the club of all the big earners and recruit players on relative peanuts.

I am not the one peddling the media like that we hated McLiesh because he came from the Noses. Something that you already know SH, probably because you're looking to start an argument.

Exactly. Thanks for agreeing with me.

Why come to Villa with a championship wage budget when he could stay at Wigan on one and wait for an ambitious club to come and get him.

There you have the only real difference between McLeish and Lambert.   With Mc Leish you expected to lose and sometimes we didn't.   With Lambert we have been brainwashed into thinking that we will games but we rarely do.   The end product is the same.   Dire football and relegation dogfights.

Comparable performances and results got TSM sacked - there's talk of giving the current inept tosser 3 more years. It's incredible - and not in a good way.

Why climb Everest when you can look at the top from Google images?

The man can do what he wants, his prerogative. It takes more bottle to do the former of those activities though. The later contains infinitely less risk, but none of the glory.

Look at his home record. And the board want to treat us to more of this shit? Just wait until it's renewal time - these clowns are in for a shock.

You're more than capable of starting arguments on here yourself, Ads.
As for McLeish, don't fool yourself. His football was diabolical but he was never offered the same grace Lambert's been given and that's totally down to the fact he didn't come from Small Heath even though he's inflicted some of the most humiliating results in the club's history.

I'm already dreading who they'll appoint next regardless of when he gets the boot.

Lambert gets a lot more time off people because he isn't McLiesh, the manager who punched the air in triumph at a 0-0 draw. The manager who went to a dead rubber at Norwich on the last game of the season and played 7 defenders.

The debate has been done to death, but they are a couple of things that stick out, none of which to my knowledge have anything to do with where he came from.

In the REAL REAL world, villa wouldn't match his buy-out clause at Wigan.
