Do we still have the worst home form in all leagues or did the win against the Baggies deny us that great title?

Rejoice!! Just checked, Yeovil Town are worse at home than us.

The style is definitely an issue.  He has slashed a horrendous wage bill, and actually mildly moved us up the table.  (remember Houllier and McLeish had experience in their teams, and also spent significant sums on established players).  Lambert has still yet to sign (not loan) a player from the premier league.  We have young lads that are growing together, and I tell you what, I feel more inclined to cheer them on than a crew of highly paid, already made it players that didnt seem to care a couple of years ago.  The frustration is we have a manager that gets our team up for the big teams.  Take a look at City and Arsenal results, and performances against Liverpool.  Infact, our away form is good.  Yes I know its how we are set up, but the skill we show in those games should be able to transfer against the teams closer to us in the table.  Im a ST holder, and have questioned going due to time and cost.  It would be better to have some more goals to cheer at home though!

If he's staying on a bit, let's hope we don't read stats like these (football365 this morning) much longer

* Only Palace have a lower pass completion rate and possession average than tenth-placed Villa.
* Villa scored with their only shot on target at Goodison Park on Saturday.
* Three outfield Villa players recorded a pass completion rate below 50% v Everton: Ciaran Clark (46%), Ryan Bertrand (45%) and Grant Holt (40%).

Quite right. It's not a coincidence. We've seen time and time again what even one week of a progressive manager in training can do for a team - look at how Sunderland are playing under Poyet, with almost exactly the same players as Di Canio had, or Rodgers last season changing Liverpool's whole ethos after a single summer, or Martinez turning Everton into a really good side to watch, or even Pepe Mel's first two or three game at Baggies where they started to pass the ball like Swansea. It's no good to say 'give it a chance to come good' - if Lambert was the type of manager to bring this kind of football to Villa Park, 18 months and four transfer windows should be plenty of time to show it. Instead, it is visibly getting worse.

Ha! Glad to see you've recovered, Ads. Reading your post match comments on Saturday I was getting very concerned for you. ;)

We play well at Liverpool and on the whole against the Albion and follow it up by playing badly against Everton. It is what it is.

That may be the case, Monty but we are stable. Aren't we? ;)

Not exactly, we were set up right against Liverpool and to an extent against West Brom. We were set up too negatively against Everton.

Draw, win, lose. Play very well, play pretty well, play poorly. There is a term for that; "mid-table".

I read that Swansea were so bad they were embarrassing against West Ham last Saturday.

I tried to write something that touched on this - our last three mangers, including THAT one, have all hinted at being able to get far better out of the team than they did/do. All of them have pulled off a great result or two, or shown some signs of playing decent football, only for the next week to invariably resort to dross. We are the Audley Harrison of the Premier League.

Swansea fans were complaining that they stopped passing the ball and tried to lump it against West Ham, which would be embarrassing for them.

Shouldn't you have used Danny Williams  Dave?

Mind you I don't know why people have a go at Audley. Its not as though he's hurt anyone!

Lambert must be the luckiest bloke in football. He's enjoyed the longest honeymoon period of any Villa manager I can think of and now this. If I were Lerner I'd be telling Lambert that he's got until May to demonstrate some tactical knowledge.

Mind you, if I were Lerner I'd have sacked him after Millwall.

This in a nutshell. The man has put us through some of the most humiliating times in our history - Bradford, Chelsea etc and the worst home record for as long as I can remember, and he's getting rewarded with a new contract for it!
The mind boggles!
