People keep going on about stability...stability is worth squat if things are not just working. Although I have hard time imaging anyone else suitable, unless they'd hire someone from europe.

I don't mind Lambert as a bloke and I think he'll eventually end up at somewhere like Derby and do a good job.  Massively patronising, but I doubt he reads this so not to worry.  Offering him a new contract just spells out to everybody that he is doing exactly what the owner wants in keeping Villa in the premier league, we have given up on anything else.  Can anybody see Lambert inspiring a team of also rans into contenders?  8th at best under him I reckon.

Coupled with Randy Lerner's inability to spend our way into something resembling a great team and his apparent unwillingness to sell up to somebody who can, it's all very humdrum isn't it?

If Lambert IS still here in 3 years time we might be even further behind the clubs that are supposedly our rivals (Spurs et al) and even more entrenched among Southampton, WBA and Sunderland.

So, consistently average.

Lerner seems to love giving his money away. Keep your hands in your pockets until the the summer Randy!. If lambert has a v good run, then offer him a contract in the summer.

They should be considering doing this at the end of the season.

Further evidence that we really don't know what we're doing.  Why offer this now?  There is no sound reason whatsoever, ridiculous.

Top tip Randy. Give any pay rise you were thinking of in the form of a new contract for Delph.

Priorities Randy, Priorities.

That's a terrible article.

"Five victories from the last ten Premier League matches".

Really? I make it two.

I think he needs to remove the word "have".

He meant 5 wins in last 10 games of last season

People have obviously forgotten what it can be like when the current Villa hierarchy go looking for a manager.

Better the devil you know. And, the acid test will be can they back him in the transfer market this summer.

Still no need to give him a new contract yet. Nobody will be after him. He will be looking over his shoulder all the time. Lambert needs to know his position is in jeopardy and throwing a new contract at him is extremely foolhardy. Just imagine that Culverhouse now as well. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Lambert has not done enough as yet to deserve a bumper new contract - should wait until the summer and see where we are before any thoughts on giving him a new deal .

Although we are 10th now we are only 5 points off the bottom 3 and its so tight down there - contract talks should be put on the back burner till may.

Good. Lambert is tactically smart and has an eye for a good transfer.

Tactically smart ? Really ?
