Another thing I'm sick of is the bullshit he comes out with in the media. Every article sounds like him pleading with Lerner not to sack him.

Yep. It's horrible to hear "how great Randy is" bla bla bla. Sycophantic rubbish designed to keep him in a job.

Not going to happen. Lerner loves Faulkner.

Not read much of this thread but my view on Lambert getting a new 3 year deal is that I wouldn't give him 3 minutes.

Yesterday was the perfect example of the fact we aren't progressing, for the last 30 mins we were exactly the same tactically (!) as against Bradford, 4 in a straight line up top and hoof from the back, Albrighton aside our entire midfield were gutless in the way they just went sideways to give responsibility for trying to create...

His defenders will say he hasn't had cash BUT he and he alone decided 7m on a striker we didn't need was preferable than finding an ounce of creativity for the midfield.

He doesn't give a monkeys about entertaining the fans, his 100mph mistake laden football proves that - so his job should live or die by results and what we have had served up at VP in his tenure has 90% been utter tripe.

His signings, ok Benteke is quality, Plastercine Ron is decent when he plays, Okore might be good & he sorted Guzan....3 of those were whilst he had Henke on the payroll, since he has trotted out tat like Bacuna, Helenius....is PL capable of spotting a player?

I sincerely hope Lambert gets us clear of the drop this season but also hope Lerner does what is right and bombs him and his one dimensional bore fest out come the summer.

Watching at Villa Park is getting more and more boring and tedious, they can't bury their heads and think 36k will turn up week in week out to watch it because the VFM is almost non existent.

Soapbox descent....

I read somewhere that in our 15 home games so far this season we have scored the first goal once. That's a damning stat and tells you everything about the tactics of Paul Lambert. And we're offering this man a new 3 year deal!

And I do believe Lerner thinks this the start of a Man U type dynasty he is building. Perhaps SAF wrote him another letter telling him he was nearly sacked, performances were poor but the MUFC board stuck with him and 26 years later he had won everything........................
Of course SAF had a bit of footballing nouse and understood that you need a solid defence, a good midfield and width!!

At the very least, wait until Christmas before they even begin to think about offering the guy a new contract. I sat and read the H&V edition from May 2013 this morning, just after we smashed Sunderland 6-1.  I was reading the letters.  It was full of optimism with one fella saying that we can push for a top 6 next season, Lowton was getting better and better, if we buy a defensive mid etc etc etc.  It made me realise just how much we have stood still.  Lambert has wasted a lot of money and I think this is as good as we are going to get with him in charge.  If you like what you see, then stick with him.  For me, I think he see's out his contract and goes. No way would I be thinking of giving him a new contract at this point.

What is this work in progress? What is the framework and Key performance indicators? What is it measured by? We were playing far better football and the end of last season than we are now, after another £20m spent. So what is going on behind the scenes? More importantly, who gives a flying fuck? All that matters is what the supporters are having to endure, especially at Villa Park.

Please, explain what the plan is and where we're at in it. Because I reckon there is no plan and it's just a poor excuse for playing shit ineffective football.

That's the way that I see it. I've totally lost patience with him now, and if he does receive another contract then Randy has indeed lost the plot in McLeish portions.

To award him a new contract now would be to reward mundanity itself. Boring, ineffective football, poor players purchased with the exception of Benteke. Great attandances for such a poor home product, surely that too will cease if we have to endure much more.
