Towards the end there was a loud chant of you don't know what you're doing. Just before the final whistle and after the final whistle there were two loud chants of we want Lambert out.

That's pretty unambiguous. And if you lose the away support, that's pretty bad.

I'm just surprised (and disappointed) it's taken this long.

I'm glad because it shows how the support is fair minded and prepared to give the manager a chance to get things right. It also shows how serious things have got when they do turn.

Some might look at it and fancy us, out of all the games, to pull off surprise results against Man City and Spurs given the way our season. However, I don't see it. There's only so many times you can pull off really fortuitous/or surprise results in a season. I think Chelsea topped off our quota for the year. It'll probably be a piss easy demolition job for Man City, and a comfortable end of season win for Spurs.

Our best hope of getting results to crawl over the line are the Hull and Swansea games.

To be honest I think we'll scrape by on 36-67 points which absolutely has to see Lambert getting canned.

I hope exit terms are being negotiated and a 'mutual consent' statement being drafted because if this clown is still in charge on Monday it will be an utter disgrace. We've had enough torture now Randy for God's sake, do the decent thing and pull the trigger.

Think we might also get something from Southampton next week as well, although it's difficult to see us getting any points from anywhere at present.

However did he get this reputation as a young dynamic tactician? He can barely string a comprehensible sentence together.

Chap on wm summed it up - he's signed 3 poor left backs and 5 attackers when we need a captain, a midfield and some centre backs.

I'd take pulis or alladyce over lambert. He's taken us back Aston vanilla

This from Lambert tonight sums up his 2 years in charge.
"We were handling it okay. But it's that one chance you have to take. We didn't manage to take ours.

Indeed. By points I think the odd draw will be our best bet. I can't see where our next win is coming from, particularly with Benteke out. We're scraping over the line like McLeish did.

Hate to say it, but if we can't get anything from Fulham and Palace (home and away) I can't see us getting a point from anywhere!
Hope I'm very wrong.

Despite what the pig nosed numpty said, Villa fans are a pretty patient, tolerant bunch.

The vast majority even gave an unpopular choice like McLeish an easy ride for most of his dismal stint at the club.  Lambert was a popular choice with the fans at the time of his appointment, so it's natural he was given even more leeway.

None of that matters now though.  It isn't working out. We know it, Lambert knows it and I'm pretty certain even Laurel and Hardy in the boardroom know it.

Has he 'lost the dressing room'?
It all points to something like that.

I don't think it matters anymore whether you are pro or anti Lambert staying, I just can't see him being at VP next season,
as others have described him as a dead man walking, that's what he is now

rather than losing the dressing room, I don't think he's ever actually found it

The away support turned today.

About time too.

They did indeed, me included, and it is indeed about time. Long overdue in fact.

Anyone who thinks keeping Lambert on beyond May is a good idea, I have some bad news for you...you're clinically insane. Keep a watchful eye outside your window for men in white coats.

He has to go. 110%, no two ways about it, he's not and never will be, good enough for Aston Villa.

The biggest problem, bigger than not having a good enough squad, and bigger than Randy's financial constraints, is Lamberts total and utter lack of any tactical nous and our fundamental lack of any sense of a game plan, cohesion or even the suggestion that the players have been trained in things as basic as passing and movement.

Displays like today have become the norm and not the exception and it's bloody awful. Clueless and awful.

Says it all for me. He has to go tonight, put Sid in charge and hope he can rally the boys enough to pick up the points we need.

Agree totally. Couldn't believe people were saying otherwise on here though I kept out of it as temperatures were running high on numerous very similar threads on here. Absolutely no argument for keeping him on in my mind. There wasn't last week and there isn't this week either

When the chips are down the old champions get pushed to the fore. Would Sid want to do it? Would he make a difference? Is there any evidence to support the "yes" opinion to these questions?

It smells a bit like the Shearer appointment at Newcastle to me.
