Any comments from Lambert on transfers?

Something about him still trying to 'look at' fifteen options and that he hadn't heard we're in for Holtby. Whenever he says that, it sounds like somebody else sorts the transfers for him.

Just got back. Typical derby, tricky conditions, neither team kept the ball well. We missed Gabby. Weimann was excellent tonight but we need a strong midfielder and another CB. Also, we need to think of other ways fwd rather than long balls to Benteke.

I notice Neil Moxley in the Mail is referring to it as a "controversial penalty".

Shay Given on 5Live laughed and said "as a Villa fan it is a stonewall pen". Much mirth ensued and then he said it was "generous"

Just got back, well what a game nails have gone. Really didn't think we get back into this after the start we had but credit to the boys, played really well to get into the lead, the defending for there 3rd goal was terrible. Didn't really play great in the second half but got the win which is all that matters. C'mon!!!!!!!

Hated the first ten minutes. Loved the rest of it (apart from their equaliser). They were very quiet on the train back.

It was generous. Would have been fuming if given the  other way

Nowhere in the laws of association football does it say that placing a player in a headlock is not a foul.

For me the pen is quite soft but it's part of the modern game. We've had it against us this season. They couldn't handle Benteke. All Laguno could do was bundle Benteke down. A defender shouldn't make that sort of challenge because it's only gonna go one way.
In todays game it's pretty much stone wall.

As for West Brom's premature chant when it was 0-2 early on, yes Albion..."We know what you are!!"
And how small time is that - being pride of the midlands means mostly nothing to us but is a big deal for them.

I thought it was a penalty all day. Their defender didn't make any attempt for the ball, but more like an attempt for Benteke's neck.

Re Beneteke, would normally agree with you. But he won everything tonight and that tactic really paid off especially the first half

You need to feel for them Charlie.
They've just lost their Champions' League Final! ;-)

Very true, Frankie. The insignificant, small time wankers.
