I would prefer to watch a match on a Easter Monday afternoon than a Tuesday night, but as the Hull game has been moved by Sky to the Saturday, obviously the Reading game had to be moved to the Tuesday, otherwise we would have been disadvantaged having only 2 days preparation.

We were never originally scheduled to play at home on Good Friday or Easter Day, so I've no idea, where the Church comes into all this.

The fact that we had one less day to prepare for our next game. It's two hours during the day, they have the whole day to celebrate the death of a fictional character, what's the problem?

You think it's a fictional character. You're expecting them to move, yet their movement has been going an awful lot longer than the Villa, which after all is a bunch of people watching men running around some grass kicking some fake animal skin about. Why not move the game (which, after-all is just that)?

Seems more than likely Yeshua existed. The point of debate is whether he was the son of God. For that one requires faith.

I see him as a composite figure. Many of the stories ascribed to him, e.g. the smashing up of the temple, were told about other would-be messiahs before the period when he is supposed to have lived. That's before we even mention how much of "Christian" belief was simply nicked from the Mithras mythology.

Whatever, even if you do believe, there's nothing to stop you attending church in the twenty-two hours of Good Friday that don't clash with Villa crowds.

Because moving the game left us at a disadvantage for our next game. Attending church before or after the game (or even during) to avoid traffic would not have left any Christian at a disadvantage.

No other English games were required to move for the benefit of the Church, although I daresay a reasonable number must be near a church. The Church near Villa Park were, quite clearly, being unreasonable.

Or maybe we are just doing our little bit for community relations. Over the years I have seen many multi faith events at the church and although I am an atheist I see that as a good thing for social cohesion. Moving the odd game is really not that big a deal and I don’t think they deserve to be crucified over it.

Risky choice of words that!

Didn't seem to hurt us that much in the Bristol City game!

I would've prefered it to be on Easter Monday with a later kick off but there you go, it's a crucial part of the season and obviously an extra days rest will help us.

It's nothing to do with the Church surely?

We played loads on Easter Monday in the premier league, Chelsea home game in 2004 was one I remember. The Reading game was originally going to be played at 3pm. I was more surprised the Hull game hadn't been moved back to Good Friday?

Issues have been when we've had home games on Easter Sunday and they've rung the bells as a protest.

I just assume with Sky moving the Hull game the club deem 48 hours recovery as insufficent so want the extra day and Reading have agreed.

I was on about last season. We played on Easter Saturday and Monday, were supposed to play on Friday and Monday but the first game was moved.

Leeds will 99% be on TV. Two biggest clubs in the league and both in or around the play offs.

There's no way Leeds are bigger than Wolves, Wednesday or Sunderland. The most over-hyped club in England.

It will still be on telly though, due to said hype and the fact that we are, obviously, massive.
Wolves couldn't sell out 2000 for Ipswich tomorrow and have only sold 1800 when they're pissing the league. Tinpot.

Presumably there's only a handful (at most) services in the church that day, and possibly at times that would clash with match-time. I doubt they have the resources for a Dougal going round enquiring ''Is there anything to be said for another mass?"

Wolves being moved to 17.30 pissed me off. Had plans that night as it's wife's birthday. I think it's the worst KO  time as for those that work at the club have to be there for 3pm and leave around 8.
Anyway she will have another birthday next year ;)

It's a funny kick off time, not one thing or the other. That said Villa Park under lights on a Saturday evening is a noisy place.
