I believe they will tear us apart Sunday, especially without Vlaar and Delph.

The upside of the loss will be a wake-up call to Lambert on our style of play and we become entertaining once more through the festive season.
You really think he can't see our problems?

Some people are saying this is the best time to play them, but I think we missed that boat a week or two ago. I'm struggling to remember the last time Man United lost three league games on the bounce, and I'm fairly certain it won't be happening on Sunday.

They will see this as the ideal opportunity to get back on track. They're away from all the pressure and bullshit at the theatre of prawns, and they're playing a team that's uncomfortable playing at home. A team that's uncomfortable playing, full stop. But also a team that has historically bent over and taken whatever punishment Man United choose to dish out, followed by a thank you letter the next morning. And don't forget, Villa Park is Man United's favourite ground.

One thing that has frustrated me in recent years has been Villa's eagerness to gift any team desperately in need. Even when Frank Lampard needed to score to reach his milestone last season, I knew we'd oblige. I was so sure of it, I had money on it and won a little compensation for the defeat. Man United desperately need a win, and we'll duly hand it over with compliments. They'll cruise it 0-3, and the crisis will be over just as ours begins.

Of course, it should go without saying, I sincerely hope I'm wrong and we get a win, any win, with 1 % possession if that's what it takes. I just can't see it.

So it was a brilliant performance? A tactical masterclass? His luck will run out soon if he persists with this 'style'.

This was my worry, and it seemed that way at the weekend. We had no run of decisions, a key player injured, and we never looked like nabbing a goal from anywhere. We can't expect to have 30% and 3-4 shots on target every game and win 3-2. If we continue average about 3 shots on target and passing it so poorly, we'll lose more than we win in the remainder of the season. Depending on injuries etc, how many we lose will be the difference between keeping ourselves clear of the bottom feeders, or scrapping with them again. Ronny can't get back soon enough.

As Delphs missing, I would play Herd in the middle to add a little bite to the midfield.
1-0 to us. As always, ever the optimist.

We won. We beat a team who were unbeaten at home before then. Feel free to criticise that all you like; I'll take the three points.

Man United -1 is an early Xmas present I'm afraid. They really could crucify us. Hard team to pick but a couple of players need dropping from the team (Bacuna) and squad (Weimann). I'd actually bring Hutton back in to the team for this game as Bacuna's confidence doesn't need any more of a battering. If Hutton gets a chasing, no-one is going to be too bothered. Clark and Baker as a partnership mean goals for United Im afraid but we have nothing better available.
Guzan
Lowton, Clark, Baker, Hutton
-----------Herd-----------
gabby, Westwood, Sylla, Albrighton
Benteke

Watched United v Newcastle and the toon owned them in midfield. Cabeye got the credit but I thought Anita was more influential. Longer the game went on the more Cleverely hid. Evra's attitude was a disgrace too so getting down their left is our best chance of success. But they will be happy to be away from Old Trafford at the weekend.

If we can show a bit more spirit than the shambles last week and at least attempt to play football, that will be a positive.

Hutton at left back? He's not good enough in his proper position.

Why on Earth is this dreary mid-table clash on TV?

I've no idea why Manchester United are playing at peak TV time in the Far East.
