Beat Sunderland
Draw at Soton
Lose at Fulham
Lose to Man Utd
Beat Stoke

7 points I reckon.

Most would probably expect the Fulham/Soton results to switch. Just an incling I have that we will play well at Soton but for some reason slip up at lowly Fulham.

That's saved me typing cus it's what I reckon too!
Expecting Fulham to dump Jol and have a new man in with new hope just in time for us.
Not sure I will live long enough to ever see us not lose at home to Man U

0-0 2008/9.

Im sure we've had a 1-1 since then too.

We had 3 draws with them between 08-10 at VP.

I just have a weird feeling this is our season. Apart from last season's mauling Moyes had generally a poor record at VP down the years with Everton so hopefully that will lessen the psychological hold Man. United have over us on this ground.

Sunderland (H)   win
Southampton (A)    lose
Fulham (A)    win
Man U (H)    lose
Stoke (A)    draw

7.  And there'd be nowt wrong with that.

7-8 points would be a good return, not outstanding but would get us over 20 points.

I think the xmas period has worked out pretty good for us this year, two home games in 48 hours which is what you want rather than having to travel. Palace on boxing day really should be a win and then the Swansea game two days later. They've got Chelsea away on boxing day so I'd imagine Laudrup will rest a few for us but still a tough ask two away games in 48 hours. Then Sunderland away on NYD which is a very winnable fixture.

I'd like to think with 7 points from those 3 we'd be very close to 30 points on NYD which would probably put us in the top 10 and mean a very relaxing second half of the season for a change!

I reckon this is about right. 22 points from 17 games would be solid and making good progress for having survival tied up with good time to spare.

Funny how your memory plays tricks eh? You are right, and as soccerhq as reminded us we drew the following 2 seasons too. Should have remembered the 2-2 but I suppose that one felt like a defeat. If you are not sure how a 2-2 can feel like a defeat ask a baggie

Knowing villa we'll lose the games we shouldn't and win the games we shouldn't with a random 3-3 draw in amongst it all. Happy days.

So then, two down and four points gained.

3 games left of the 5 named in the OP.

Fulham (A)
Man U (H)
Stoke (A)

I'd have said 4 so far, but got the results the other way round (win vs Sunderland, draw vs Southampton).

I think we can win against Fulham but we have to go out all guns blazing and not let them score first then end up chasing the game like we do so often.

Man U, depends on their players and who is out but you get the feeling they might be there for the taking. We can't fail to win at home against them every year.

Stoke away, don't see anything to worry about. They are shit.

An optimistic two wins from those three games I reckon. Wouldn't like to say which ones we'll win.

I think we've Palace, Swans and Sunderland again after this triptych. I'd be delighted with three wins and a couple of draws which is more than possible.

We are heading into three games where the opposition are under more pressure than us to win. We need to take advantage of that.
