Bloody hell you lot are like the boring sixth formers from school who were always quoting Monty Python.

Have you had enough, Nazi, or do you want some more?

Whilst you lot are re-enacting the Young Ones I've been chatting to Michelle Gill in the corridor, Villa fan, likes T.Rex and Northern Soul. Failed miserably, got to go to a couple of Villa matches with her but us being attacked coming out of Ayresome Park didn't go down too well with her folks. One of the many reasons I hate that club and town.

Ayresome Park was a horrible place to go. I only went there once, that live tv game in 87-88 (I think). Not fun.

Went there for the Semi Final of the some cup or another (might have been the Simod or Full Members Cup, I forget which) back in the late 80's. There wasn't many of us and it was a bit grim.

Might have been Zenith Data actually.

Think it would have been the Simod Cup at that point.

Was that the season we played Small Heath in that? And beat them 6-0? A week or so after we had beaten them 5-0?

I seem to recall getting into a fight with some noses in a club in Newcastle over that. Surreally, Brendan Foster and Steve Cram were sat at a table nearby, watching it unfold.

Happy days.

It was 88 that I was thinking of. We beat Small Heath 6-0 in the Simod cup, shortly after doing them 5-0 and 2-0 in the League cup.

No that was season 88/89 and the simod cup- it had changed to the zenith data by the time we played boro in the semi final in 1990.
Sorry paulie , just seen your reply.

It was Zenith Data when we played Boro in the regional final. Lost both 2-1. The 6-0 vs small heath was the previous season when it was the Simod.
And the season before that was THAT Bradford game. Which is still the cause of the closest I ever felt to giving up on the Villa. Probably why I wasn't as totally fucked off as others about Bradford last season.

I remember going up to Ayresome Park when we were in the second division. Bleak. We were in an uncovered corner of a half empty ground

Although the old barrel-roofed main stand was fantastic

Lost 5-0 at home in front of less than 4,500. Felt like I had the Holte to myself it was so empty. I was on the dole and living in Bromsgrove at the time. Spent over a weeks dole money getting to the game. Which including a two hour walk to Bromsgrove train station from my house, and a two hour walk back at stupid o'clock. For anyone who knows Bromsgrove, think where the train station is, and then where the Park Gate pub is/was (I assume it is still there) on the Kiddy Road as I lived near there. I spent most of the walk home swearing i'd never go again. I hated Villa that night!

And there were about 300 of us there, absolutely maximum. Valentine's day 1988
