If we're still 0-0 at 50-60 minutes I hope he makes a change quickly. I'd like to see 2-3 of Helenius, Robinson and Johnson coming on with plenty of time to influence the game.
Defensively we're not too shabby at the moment, but we're going to struggle a lot in attack today. If we keep things on a parity there's still the chance for Lambert to get this right and turn the game.

I did fancy us to win today, but after looking at that line up, I'd take a point.

That is depressing

Not a chance would I ever take a point at home against Cardiff.

In the context of where we find ourselves, i.e, ten home wins since August 2011, a draw may not be a bad result while we wait on Gabby, Andi, and Delph to get fit.

8 Lambert signings in that side and it looks a bag of bollocks, says it all really.

We need a win to start moving upwards again today.

update on my fifa game . .

Absolutely horrible villa performance. no width. awful passing. but somehow two up at half time. deflected tonev strike from a corner and benteke following up a kozak shot.

It's an omen i tells ya

What worries me about that side is service to Kojak and Benteke. Tonev is not a creative player and Helenius would surely provide more. Hope I am wrong but that looks like a poor choice of players. Only Westwood and KEA have the potential to create a pass unless Bacuna is allowed to push forward .....

We've got half a first team out injured, what do you expect? Take five first team players from any Premier League team and it'll look weak, with the probable exception of Man City. Delph, Agbonlahor, Weimann, Okore and Luna are a big chunk of the team to miss.

I'd guess that will be a 4-3-1-2, with Tonev as the '1'.

But it's not a team selection to lift the spirits at first glance, is it? Oh well, let's hope they pull it off and prove me utterly wrong!

A better side.

The summer additions supposedly added some squad depth, which they haven't because most of them have looked shit.

selection of a struggling manager I reckon

no width, dire midfield, cant see much constructive football from that side

if cardiff score first I dont expect us to get back in the game

Against Chelsea away weren't our fans calling Lambert 'the real special one' or some such?

I hope that he hasn't lost his way.

Managers like players go through spells of poor form and judgement. That selection strikes me as the actions of a man whose head is in a bit of a funk. It's hard to know what he is trying to accomplish. Another dull display at Villa Park will weaken him further imo

........Now we will go out and smash them 5-0 with Kozak scoring all five

Glass half full:  real opportunity for Kozak and Tonev to make a good impression against mediocre opposition; Benteke is due a stormer.

Glass half empty: Benteke and Guzan are the only names on our team sheet that scream quality.  Yes we have a good few first teamers out injured but that shouldn't mean we automatically become dire and toothless.

I still reckon we'll have enough to win though.  We bloody well ought to.

The funny thing is we tend to play through our best players, and with no Delph to go through in the midfield and no Gabby to stretch on the wings, it looks like Guzan-to-Benteke might be our tactic. I hope not, but it wouldn't be the first time.

On one hand, there's no such thing as an easy fixture in the Premier League.

On the other hand, if we can't put on a half decent performance against Cardiff at home, then you have to worry when we will start doing it.
