Sounds like we should have been two up against a very good Everton side. So we must be doing something right in the creative sense

Without Barry, Everton would be struggling.

They had a player like Osman on the bench to bring on and he turned the game. He'd walk into our side at the moment and be one of the first names in the 11. He's not exactly Maradona either.

We look like headless chickens. There's barely any composure among any of the players beside the big man who's always pretty cool but wasn't fit today. The difference with Everton was how well taken their goals were. A bit of consideration, a bit of composure and we're picking the ball out our net. We snatch at everything, rush everything. Just perenially fluff a shot or fuck up a final ball.
We might claim we're unlucky today, and 2-0 did probably flatter them, but we got 3 shots on target today, in a game at home. That's pathetic. There's no getting around that. We can claim 15 minutes of dominance in the second half but as soon as they scored it looked forgone. The very least you should expect as a professional football club, on your own ground against an opponent in the same league, is to be able to dominate a significant section of the game. We had the better of it for 15 minutes...woopty doo. First half was either end, a good game actually. Once they scored though, it was easy street. They might have made it worse too.

Everton did an away smash and grab that we love doing.  Should have won today had we took the chances.  We are still miles better than last season.

Eulogising about Barry on MOTD now.  I know it was long debated on here but I can't help but think he would have made a massive difference to this side.
I like Lambert and what he's trying to do, but I do wonder whether we'd be better if randy could have convinced Martinez to come.

I wouldn't call it a smash and grab really. First half was end to end. Second half we dominated for 15 minutes but they looked comfortable when they scored. 2-0 was harsh but I'm not sure with 3 shots on target we really deserved anything. Every home game we should be expecting a reasonable spell of dominating possession and territory. I thought by the end Everton were quite good value. Two very well taken goals (we're sorely lacking the composure shown for both) and they might have twisted the knife even further because we seemed to give in after Osman's goal.

Depends what you mean by special. If you mean lower mid table, then yes, we ain't far off

I'm just getting bored with going - today was the best home performance this season and we lost again.
Our much lauded attack can't score, the midfield seems terrified to put the ball into the opposition area and the defence is apparently better because it only lets 2 goals in instead of 4.

We are, apparently, going to become Dortmund and power our way to victory with unstoppable forward strength but all I see is a bunch of also-rans with a decent keeper who can put the ball onto the head of a striker who will be gone at the end of the season who flicks on to no one in particular.

I know sod all about formations I just watch this crap week after week. Luckily the world believes the hype that the Premiership is great so money keeps pumping in so we just keep our heads out of the relegation guilliotine.

It just makes me sad to see us come to this.

Just seen MOTD the role Barry plays is where Sylla should be played.As they showed having a player in that role helps the defence a great deal.

I celebrated when we turned down Martinez, I never thought he was good enough for us.

Looking back I could have been wrong. Fairplay to the man, he is doing a good job with Everton.
