Has Lambert ever made an effective substitution ? Apart from the forced substitution of Benteke with Kozak against Norwich

With the exception of Bacuna I don't think anyone that's been signed has improved us at all

Not obviously no, I think Okore would have.

Okore looked the best signing before his injury. The rest haven't improved us Bacuna has done well but only playing as well as Lowton was last season.

But with our outlay what can you expect

I think Lerner has pumped in more than enough cash and continues to do so.

I had kinda hoped Lambert would turn us into a Dortmund style high pressing, ultra attacking kind of side. So far, not so much.

Ah well.

I think Bacuna is much better defensively than Lowton.

Just got back. I had a nasty feeling when our third great chance went begging early on that this would end in tears. Everton didn't have to play well to win which is a worry. Second half we had more possession and plenty of corners but couldn't create. Only had one chance to gabby after they had scored but it came at him very quickly. I thought baker was doing fine against Lukaka until Luna went off but Lukaka then got more involved once baker moved to full back. The big worry for me is that we lose goals and games when we have done enough to get a point at least. gabby had a shocker I thought , touch bloody awful.
One things for sure, we can't play narrow at home and try and pass out way through teams with the players we have. And the corners! looked like we would never score, why can't we try and create something like they did for the second?

Our problem is that we've lost the ability to create goals lately.

Could have been out of sight by half time, in the end their experience showed and they were miles away from us in the last 20-30 minutes. Gutted, but on another day we could have got something from it. We go again.

Agreed, John. Our first half performance was the best we've played at home for a long time and we started out well in the second half too. I think the players lost a bit of patience when we couldn't find a way through and it showed in our passing. Saying that, regardless of how well we played for the first hour, as soon as we went behind we never looked the same team. We really fell apart and made a decent Everton side look far better than they actually are - and this was supposed to be them at full strength.

Questions do have to made at Lambert's tactics. Sides know what to expect from us and when we fail to take our chances opposing managers seem to have a knack of making the right changes whilst Lambert makes the wrong ones. Somebody mentioned "Bradford" and they're right. It's pure desperation throwing so many up front in the hope of getting a goal or two back. As we saw today, the midfield suffers and teams are allowed to dominate the midfield. It's all very playground and completely unacceptable.

I wish I was a betting man as I've now correctly predicted the last three results, not that I'm happy about it. I just wish we weren't so fucking predictable.

Tactically Lambert has serious issues he needs to address when we go behind in games.

Of all the things I thought would hinder our progress this season, never in a million years did I think it'd be our forwards' finishing. A pox on all their houses. As soon as Gabby missed that one, I bet I wasn't alone in thinking, "this is only gonna finish one way, referee might as well blow up now". Beginning to wonder how professional footballers can reach so far in their careers that they get to play for my club whilst still having little-to-no concept of moving off the ball.

Add the outlay together could that not have been put towards one quality midfielder? Yeah you could argue Okore would have improved the defence but he came got injured then got injured big time for this season we'll never know, do we have the worst home record in the league? If you ask me the formation is wank and until it's changed we won't improve. Seriously fucked off tonight
