Managers getting sent off at Villa Park.
« on: October 22, 2013, 02:11:53 PM »
I was thinking when Mourinho got sent off on Saturday that I've been going to VP for about 15 years now and can't honestly recall an occasion when a Villa manager or opposition have been sent to the stands during the game.

There must be one example surely, anyone?

Or was it Fulham again?

Fuck it. 2-1 Villa, Maloney winner.

Just checked back, MON did get sent off but it was in the tunnel at HT against Fulham.

I want one during the game where the manager has to go in the trinity lower and eat a prawn sandwich to fit in.

I remember John Gregory got sent to the stands and he spent the second half of the 99/00 season sat up there. Our results strangely enough improved. I seem to recall he reckoned we were doing better because he wasn't on the touchline bawling at them. Pity he couldn't have sat up there in the FA Cup Final. I cant remember why Gregory was banished up there, was it after that game with Liverpool when Staunton got sent off? Think Dion got his marching orders that day too? I am sure one of ours got sent off too.

It was the same run where Doug was wearing his "Santa is a Villa fan" hat as I recall. I seem to remember either Ellis passing it to him or him taking it off Ellis at the end of one victory.
