Footballers take over London Underground map
« on: October 03, 2013, 01:43:57 PM »
To celebrate the joint 150 year anniversary of the London Underground and the FA a football-related tube map has been created. As a London-based Villain I was interested to see how many of our boys (current or former) were represented out of the 367 possibilities. It also throws up a debate of who are worthy inclusions or not, Andy Thorn anyone?

See what you think...

What does the 'special local or station name associations' mean?

I might be able to work out the inclusion of Stepney...and maybe Dave Beasant and JOhn Terry are local to those areas...but Pavel Srnicek?

Just a thought but it makes zero sense, Gareth Bale is a station (not sure which one) that has three lines running to it, the 'Midfielder' line, but then also 'World Cup Heroes' line and 'Referees' line.

At the same time you have Cristiano Ronaldo is a stop on the 'pre-war players' line.

I know it's meant to be a bit of fun, but it's simply nonsensical

The lighter blue line is for Women players and it goes through the Theo Walcott 'station' - I know there are others but that one was particularly funny.  I don't really understand the inclusion of players who've never played in England though.

It could be worse. They could also be renaming every Premier League club or ground after tube stations for a season.
