Footballers with their landlady was a classic photo opportunity back in the day. Then the landlady was phased out and replaced by footballers dogs. Which in turn were replaced by footballers and their Ford Escort XR3i.

Have fond memories of the days when chico played for the villa we even named our dog after him , even though we were in the old third division they were great times

I've got a mate ten years older than me who at times of Villa induced excitement or large quantities of alcohol or both still likes to chant 'Chico, Chico Hamilton'. With a little handclap thrown in.

We had a cat named after him. I met him once and told him. Probably not the most scintillating conversation he's ever had

You don't get landladies like that now do you - a nan type figure living in a terraced house near the ground, paid by the club to look after homesick teenagers and to fatten them up on bacon pieces and steak.

This shot was in the programme in his first season with us -1969/70 if I'm correct.

I'd always assumed you were his grandson. Have I missed something?
