Do you also remember when nobody cared much about the fixtures and what the new shirt was going to look like? In fact, do you also remember when a new shirt every summer was the cause of moans about rip-offs and exploitation?

New shirts used to be every 3 years or so at one time - all this 3rd choice kit stuff and new kit every year is bloody expensive - i prefer to wait until the end of season sales usually but have made an exception this year as the home kit reminds me of 82.

Used to love turning up at the ground and seeing the big bbc or itv vans too - knowing we were on star soccer was good , oh for the good old days :(

1-1.

Davies (inevitably) for them from a corner.
Us to snaffle a late equaliser (Delph).

They've started well. Out of that generation of players/managers, I think Bruce is doing well. He genuinely seems to learn from his previous mistakes and corrects them at his next club. Obviously there's a glass ceiling he can't break through, but if you want a hard-working promotion guaranteeing/lower midtable side - you could do a lot worse.

The shirt thing is interesting. When a new shirt came out when I was a kid it wasn't really a big deal. Now it's like it is your sworn duty to go out and buy one for your kid as if it was their school uniform.

Weren't the last trophies we won both in kits that lasted 2 seasons? Maybe there's something in that! ;)

I think we'll win this.

If Gabby is fit he'll score, so will Weimann.

2-0

24 hour, wall to wall football, when there is about half an hours worth of interesting news per day. You need some bullshit to fill the time.

@MatKendrick: Mark Clattenburg will referee Hull v Villa on Saturday #avfc

Is this a modern thing, telling us who the Ref is? I've not noticed it till recently, and I've never been bothered (and probably never will) who actually referees the game.

I don't mind knowing who the ref is going to be. At least when we know it's going to be Phil Dowd, we can prepare for the worst.

Clattenburg is not great but there are far worse - I'm glad Halsey is no longer involved .

Trust me, IF Hull score it will be Danny Graham. He hasn't scored for something like 20 years.

Wasnt his last goal the last kick equaliser for Swansea against us around new year?

This really won't be an easy game. Hull have got something going on this season, and we'll need to get on Thuddlestone in midfield if we want to keep the ball much. However, we have a lot of pace on the counter attack and that's not necessarily something they'll be comfortable handling, so I back us to win - especially if Gabby's back.

Have to say I like to know who the referee is going to be. If it's Dowd or Halsey (who has thankfully now retired) I like to prepare myself for Villa being cheated blind all match.

Those 2 were worse than any other current Premier League referees.

Chelsea's number 12 Kevin Friend must be getting close though ADVILLAFAN......
