Offside?

I thought we'd done well in the first half, we all expected them to overwhelm us, but that didn't
happen and until their goal, I was reasonably confident about the second half.
A measure of how well we played/coped is that no-one booed the players at half-time and considering
our home form over the last few seasons, that says something.

The second half and result made me nostalgic for the days when you could wait for the Argus to arrive
at the local newagents after the game.

The Argus or "the pink un" as my grandad used to say, landed about 610pm by us. We'd always be allowed some crisps and a chocolate bar too for Saturday night and if villa had won we were allowed to stay up late to watch Motd with old chinny .

We used to go up to Green Lane in Chelmsley and get the argus, Villa, Blues and Baggies and loved it, such a shame it has stopped

may I add, for those not watching on dodgy streams, If you doubt for a second Trevor Francis is a complete and utter t##t, don't. I have never shouted so many profanities at a laptop in all my days
26 pages. No thanks. ;D. mattjpa, you are spot on. I watched it in the local on Al Jaz. Trevor bloody Francis was so anti Villa, even when we got the third goal. He is a blue nosed tosspot. All i can say is well done to the lads, on and off the pitch. The noise at VP yesterday was coming through the tv speakers good and proper. Well done to everybody at VP yesterday, fantastic, just fantastic. All you lot who voted Man City win can really eat my shorts. UTV.

Great result. Poor 1st half but we really took the game to them in the 2nd, and that's all us fans want to see really.
Special mention to Trevor Francis who was clearly devastated at the result. Once a Sty dweller always a Sty dweller.

Has there been a goal like Weimann's since Andy Lochhead against Shrewsbury in 71-72? Keeper kicks it, forward sinks it.

Dean Saunders vs Middlesbrough and QPR 1992-93 season both come to mind, both from long goal kicks, the QPR goal flicked on by Dalian.
Julian Joachim vs Derby County 1996 (?), Oakes goal kick and flicked on by Tommy Johnson for JJ to score.

David Platt attacking the North scored one. Keeper kicks it, Platt beats non existent defence and scores
I seem to remember Agbonlahor getting a goal like that a few years ago.

A win without Benteke and Agbonlahor will help confidence across the squad.

No Westwood either, and to think people were moaning because him and Gabby didn't play on Tuesday because they were carrying knocks

Watching it roll towards the line reminded me of dalians at Wembley against utd and brought about the same reaction - a great moment :)

Not sure Westwood will get back in if kea performs like that - who would have thought a month ago that Lowton and Westwood would be struggling to get into the side - the more competition for places the better for us.

The same KEA who you reckon last season wasn't good enough eh Easts? Like I've always said, with some foreign players you need to give them time to adjust to the pace of the game over here. Kozak's already said that it's so different to what he was used to over in Italy.

City's manager has something of the night about him and looks as he hasn't slept for months
