Does the 54 stand for the average amount of yards Tonev will shoot from?  Or the number of mishit shots?  He's gotta be better than he showed second half v Norwich so I'm still optimistic he'll be the player we all hope.

I think we'll win this one.

The law of averages would suggest Tonev is bound to score eventually if he keeps shooting at that rate.

However, the accuracy of his shots yesterday would suggest the law of averages is seriously flawed.

Tonev's shooting is a worry. The Guardian minute by minute report called him a clown for the one in the second half where he had a man free on the right. I wouldn't mind if they were any good but they're mostly hopeless! Let's hope he's not always like this! Maybe he's playing to instruction!

For Tuesday, I think Tottenham's squad strength will be too much for a weakened villa side, given the injuries and knocks we're carrying. They could bring in Defoe, Chadli, Lamela, Holtby, Friedel, Sandro, Naughton, Kaboul and still have a much better side than us.

Interested to see how Lambert plays. Suspect those carrying knocks like Delph wouldn't be risked if they continue to have fitness doubts.

Maybe something like:

Steer - Lowton Vlaar Baker Bennett - KEA Sylla - Tonev Bacuna Weimann - Kozak

It's the seat number in the back row that he is aiming to hit.

Last season's league cup run came from impressive away wins. Since we cannot break down good teams at home, it may be better to rotate the squad. Lambo dropped a hint yesterday when he said that the PL is paramount. And none of us can face a 4th successive relegation battle. Then again, this is always our only real chance of silverware.

I'd shamelessly prioritise the league I'm afraid.

No idea what team Spurs will put out for this one.

No idea with injuries what team we will put out for this one.

I have a feeling this will go all the way to penalties, it's been a while since we've been involved in a shoot out anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we've never lost one  at home and we've never won one away.

This is the League Cup and we are Aston Villa.

Winners 1961, 1975, 1977, 1994, 1996
Runners Up 1963, 1971, 2010
