Very early days for people to be knocking Tonev,I don't recall Savo or JPA being amazing in their first 3 months. Am I right that JPA didn't score until right at the end of his first season?

And his first goal was a lovely finish against Cov to help send them down. Beautiful day.

Bacuna looked good, Gabby caused problems and that was a genuinely great save from Guzan. We looked dogged and determined as a team.

Thought Bacuna was super, will be hard to drop him after that. Liked the look of Helenius when he came on. Weimann was poor again and why did he take gabby off ?
Tonev looks shite but at least he shoots.

I thought Bacuna was hugely encouraging today, he pretty much eliminated the threat down the right.

Call me old-fashioned, but this is what I primarily look for in a full-back. Being good in the opponents' half is a bonus.
You are old fashioned!

Weimann wasn't poor, and Gabby was injured. Helenius looks potentially useful, Tonev does shoot but far too much.

There's a man who knows his own opinion and is to the point!

Sorry, I know he scored (but so did Terry Donavan a long time ago) but our 7mil aquisition didnt appear to have anything that will particularly worry top class number 5s through the season.

You've decided that after he's had barely 90 minutes for us?

Also, how many truly top class defenders are there in the Premier League? Probably three - Kompany, Vidic and maybe the c**t Terry.

To be fair, he didn't do much up until the time he scored!

Perhaps that's unfair of me. Ill give him a few more games and hopefully revise my intial opinion.

I thought our ball retention 2nd half was worryingly shit. We need to work on holding possession. We also sat deeper and deeper , an age old problem.

Happy with a win. Assuming Tekkers is out for a month or less I am also fine with our new forwards getting a few starts.

Scrappy, but sod it, sometimes scrappy is needed.
