It seems they think our fans are a throwback to the 70s too. Just found this post on one of their forums:

vile fans - back to the 70's

vile fans showed their class again last night

smashing the bus windows

and some couldn't handle it that we scored a 2nd goal.. tried to get in at the nufc fans

laughable, good job they didn't succeed, i know who i would back

I need glasses as it must have been an mirage of their fans on the pitch and in the stand heading straight for R1, which in turn caused some Villa to retaliate. And I must have been hallucinating when I saw one of them close enough to the front of R1 that he got slapped by a Villa fan in R1 who still in his seat.

What I don't understand is why the club cannot install those fan traps at the front.

I am trying to think which ground I have seem them at, but the trap is essentially a bar that comes out from the hoardings and has five or six lose metal wires running horizontally through the middle, so if some fat Georide dick head trys to get on our pitch, he gets tangled up and arrested. Its not fair having stewards game in, game out, getting crushed by these morons trying to get on the pitch.

There were some very pissed and quite gobby Newcastle fans meandering down Trinity Road just before kick off.

They got out of the fire exits on the coaches that were parked up just past the underpass. They were very gobby and giving it the big one, but most people seemed to ignore them and were neither arsed nor impressed.

One of our lot took the bait and tried some goading back which was silly.

"Newcastle, United, will never be defeated" they chanted at me whilst walking next to them.

"Never defeated?", my response, "There must be some other Newcastle then that HAVE won a trophy since God was in short trousers".

Wembley has these in front of the seats. That's a good shout actually.

Cost and space maybe?

Safety regs will require a certain number of stewards so installing those (at a fairly significant cost I imagine) won't cut down on the number of stewards needed.  They also take up quite a lot of space, something Wembley has/had a we don't.

As with anything like this, it would probably (and unfortunately) take a steward or player to be seriously hurt by someone encroaching on to the field of play for something to be done about it.

The cameraman in front of the invading hordes probably nearly sh*t himself when their second goal went in.

Too close to the side of the pitch a player going at full tilt running into that could do himself serious damage. At Wembley you have plenty of space.

I think we should horde off the first few rows then.

H&S would have a go then as the front of the stands is the access to the tunnels to exit the ground. They would have to do some right structural work to make something like this to work.

No, I mean put mesh over the first five rows and build those ticket sales into the cost of the matchday tickets. Hit them in the pocket and in the numbers all those who cannot behave.

The message should be clear, stay off our fucking pitch you ****** bags.

Couple of coachloads of Geordie horse-punching wannabes acting up in Lichfield on Saturday, I see?
Yes, we were in Lichfield prior to the game and they were well tanked up, mostly just noisy but some trouble around the bus station we were told
