What an excellent club. 22000 supporters to watch the Millers. They respect us and the competition by fielding their strongest squad. All the support staff were pleasant and helpful. Finally , on the way back to the carthere were loads of mmillers and villa fans chatting as they went.

Massive clubs are just that, they don't need to shout how massive they are.

Classy club.

A superb club and what a stadium. I love how they have kept the old architecture for the steps up to the back of the Holte End. You could smell the tradition at Villa Park.

I love NYS but their club shop is bigger than it. Great club.

How lovely to read that, almost brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting PWS

I went on the site this morning, too.

The third goal isn't done justice

Agree. 3rd goal was stunning once you add the 10, or so, passes before the Weimann, Benteke, Delph ending.

If Barca or Man U had scored it, it would make national news  ;)

Wasn't the most exciting game to watch last night, but we got the job done that's the main thing.

After a nighmare 6 hour flight delay from Tunisia, I've just seen the score and it cheered me up a lot. Well done Villa.

I don't know if its been mentioned earlier as I have not read the whole thread but the cross from Gabby for the 2nd goal, was just about the best cross you will ever see.

I don't know who was commentating on the BBC highlights last nights but he said Weimann was our Icelandic international.

Really enjoyed the game even though my seat had been sold despite being in the Cup Scheme and therefore having to move elsewhere. It got me into the right frame of mind for a match when I successfully fended off the attempt to charge me a £2.00 booking fee for the new seat!

Rotherham had a go "early doors" as was to be expected as they had nothing to lose but other than a few crosses into the box which made their supporters go "ooh" they did not create anything of note and Steer did not have a meaningful save to make that I can remember.

Three fine goals and albeit the opposition was limited but we look tighter at the back. Okore looks the business and Vlaar seems to have stepped up a gear.

He was talking about their defender who gave it away.

Oh, my apologies to whoever the commentator was (or 'my bad' as the kids would say).

How did their manager behave? He has a reputation in these parts for being a bit of a prick!

I agree on the last bit, I'm amazed that you can't get highlights of the whole move anywhere.

Three quality goals and a clean sheet, job done.

Somewhat Ot, incidentally, I looked on the Rotherham fans site  and came across a thread about 'Best away support at Rotherham'

There's a post about Villa in '71 :-

"'Galant' wrote at 11:36 on 27 Aug:
Villa at home just over 40 years ago in the league we are now in - 16,000 there - I was amazed when they scored as the WHOLE ground erupted. Nearly got crushed on the way out - my dad - all 5ft 6in of him had to shield me to stop me being trampled on. By the way we lost 2-0. First trip to villa park tomorrow - my granddad told me we should have beaten them in '61 - a long wait for revenge eh!

I remember that game as well, Galant!

I remember going round to my mates house on Kimmy Park and we watched the Football Focus? programme on telly before we set off to Millmoor, and they were doing a feature on Villa and saying how they were breaking all attendance records for Div 3 that season!

As we walked over Coronation Bridge and approached Millmoor there were Villa fans everywhere!
It was a great atmosphere but not a great result!

Interesting read Weedy.

With regards to last night they were an odd side. They played decent football for the first 15 minutes and could easily have taken the lead, but once we scored they resorted to trying to kick us off the park. That Revell up front claimed for everything (as did their fans).

Pleased to keep a clean sheet and all 3 goals were excellent.

Thought it got Weimann and Westwood up to speed (don't think they've been at the standard they set themselves last season so far in the league).

Comfortable win.

Delph played well yet again (though I notice he still has the ability to commit stupid tackles).

Their manager is really fat.
