Very pleased for us that nobody has been chosen for England with all the tapping up that happens, but not as pleased for the players who must be wondering what they have to do. It's a big career notch on the CV.
Fair comment. The tapping up is pretty corrosive though, by all accounts.

Fortunately, Gabby seems to me inured to it. Not sure about the younger fellas though.

I like Gabby, but he's nowhere near the England squad

This is mad.
What? - the fact that I mentioned GA or that 'fornian Villa thinks he's nowhere near it?

Clearly your suggestion.

Agree with you about Gabby.
The atmosphere around England teams seems quite rarefied. I could understand a younger player getting his head turned quite easily, given the wall to wall access that the other players, agents and media have to the squad.

Like to see Helenius and Tonev on now.

Can you wish for me to win the lottery please?
Monty I have granted your wish. Now don't forget to pick the right numbers.

Of course, that's what I've been doing wrong. It all makes sense now.

Gabby has been absolutely top drawer since he first broke through. Excellent attitude work rate and a brilliant performer wherever called upon to play.   As he'd give England the flexibility of system we sorely lack I can't understand why he's not there.  Englands loss though....

Erm... another quality forward option is still needed. Benteke, Gabby and Delph off and we unsurprisingly look about a million times less threatening.

I'd be surprised if anyone on this site would claim he's been a "top drawer" goalscorer. He's the new Emile Heskey in that department ;)

Give it time Ozz. We've gone from players that are used to playing with each other to new players that need to figure shit out.

That step-over was pretty cool though.

You should wash your mouth out comparing Gabby to Heskey. Gabby has scored some top goals, and some of our most important goals in the past 6 or 7 years.

Playing as a winger? I don't think so. 12 goals in 33 apps last year is a great return for a winger. its also 3 more than Heskey scored in 3 times as many games.

Not a surprise really, just gotten back from injury.
