As others have said, it was the right move for him at the time and take villa out of it, a move we probably all would have made

One thing he did do for us was make sure we got £8m when he did move on when he could've gone for nothing if the new contract wasn't signed

The thing which he got wrong was all the bullshit things that was said at the signing of the deal in January, but how much of that was down to the club telling him to say that to give us all a lift during bad times

The summertime changing of mind was probably genuine, but made the whole situation worse

Not that it would happen or go down well, but I would have him back if it was on the cards

After reading through all the vitriol good to read a more balanced not childish comment, he is exactly what we need in our absent midfield.

Pretty much where I am with the Delph situation.  I simply don't have the hatred of him that many do.

That said, I'm always reluctant for players to return because it rarely works out as well the second time around and the level of expectation is always great.

In Delphs case, I'd take a chance at the right price but would have to factor in his injury record.  There will be far more attractive offers than us, available to Delph so it's a pointless debate in any case.  Newcastle would be a good fit, given they're almost certain to be in the PL again next season.

Philosophical point, but if he came back turning down better offers, would all be forgiven?

I would in an instance.  Just the type of player we need at the moment

I'm sure I don't know the full story but the knowing wink was pretty grim in retrospect. Did the club put him up to that video as one of Fox's bright ideas? Who knows. Either way I think if you treat the Aston Villa Football Club with disrespect, it doesn't matter how good you are or were, you can get fucked.

Can't stand him but I'd be delighted if he came back. Our midfield is Blues and has been since he left. He won't return though so all hypothetical.

Seems like many people consider that most players make their own mind what they say. They are young men with far too much money and usually badly advised by the so called agents who are always looking to make a fast buck where they can.
Fabian Dolph's only mistake was to make the video. Which should never have been aired. If he had kept quiet and gone, , then no one would have been happy but frankly it would have been like most guys who move on.
Always best to leave with dignity like Milner.
Just saying.

Snakewatch.  He isn't even in Citehs 18 today.  Does he ever actually play for them?

I might be wrong but I don't think he's in Southgate's England squad either this week  ::)

If Leeds go up he'll probably end up back there.

He could do a job for any of the sides from eighth down in the Premier League.

He was good for Villa but he's not good enough to play for a team with ambitions of challenging for a Chumps League place.

That's a good shout. Only problem I see is how will they get the money to pay him as they haven't got a pot to piss in.

He'll end up at a West Ham or Stoke I reckon...that's his real level anyway.
