I was more disappointed when Platty left.

This from the official Villa site, short isn't it for the captain?

Aston Villa can confirm that Fabian Delph has exercised the release clause in his contract and will join Manchester City.

We'd like to wish him success in his future career.

One sentence too long for me.

Obviously!  I'm surprised they included that considering that he has betrayed the club.

I think that statement says everything about what the club think of him.

He has just made David Unsworth look positively Churchillian.

Fabian Delph is like the Mansfield girl who bared her tits on the holy mountain.   There will be a day of reckoning

Is that from the chairman?

I fervently hope his arsehole festers, closes up and breaks out on his elbow so that when he reaches for the salt he shits in his dinner the fucking slimy cocksocket.

Fabian Delph - 25th January this year:

Delph said it "means everything" to continue his B6 association and hailed the chairman, manager and fanbase for making his decision easy.

He said: "The club has given me a great platform to perform and a great opportunity to showcase what I can do.

"The fans have been great with me, the chairman has been absolutely fantastic with me and I have a great relationship with the manager and I see the boys here as my brothers, my family and I am delighted to stay here.

"I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.

"I feel like this is me - I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100% into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That's why I am committing my future.

"Hopefully it will give everyone a bit of a lift and show the fans that we are looking to do big things here and bring excitement back to the club.

"We want to get through this season, do well and I feel the up-and-coming years will be big.

"There was no way I was going to bail out. I am here for the long run.

"The fans have been the same. I am sure they will stick with us, help us get through this season and then looking into the future, it looks promising to me."

Just trying to play devil's advocate for a moment - because I'm as disappointed in Delph as anyone - but no matter how much you already earn, how easy would it be to turn down an extra £5m per year for any of us?

The money/greed thing incenses me a lot less than the fact that he came out and made the statements he did.

How about Villa showing a bit of ambition for a change?

Whilst you cannot legislate for someone being as monumental a Cnut as Delph has been in this instance I agree.  Benteke is leaving for a club in the fcukin Europa league.  I reckon he'd have stayed with us if we even had this on offer.  As it is no staying in the league became the raison d'être.

It says they'd LIKE to but actually find it very difficult to do so.

It's a lazy stereotype to call footballers ****** but sometimes they make it so easy.

Fabian Delph: "Leaving Aston Villa Football Club is the hardest decision I've ever had to make."

Delph: "Decision to stay initially was purely based on the emotion and feelings that I hold for the club rather than looking at the football opportunity that had been placed in front of me."

New entry on the biggest c*** ever to play for Villa list. Possibly number one, definitely will be for the youngsters among us.

And in case you missed it, c***.

He is all over the City twitter page.  Seeing him on there is a bit hard to stomach I must admit.  They have said an interview his due soon, don't expect much in that but I am sure we will see one of those open letters or something soon.

It's just all so weird, strangely though I think I would have been more gutted had he gone last week.  Today has almost been so laughable it has softened the blow.  He is so much easier to replace than Benteke on the pitch, for all he is a great player.  My bigger fear is off the pitch, as he is the one leader you can really point to in the team and clearly a big contributor to the dressing room.  I should think the players will be pretty deflated upon hearing the news.

He will probably fail at City but whatever.  He is not the devil incarnate and we move on.
