I have not believed this for the last hour, but the BBC seem fairly categorical.  I still struggle to be fully convinced, it can't be about Benteke for starters.  Everyone knows Benteke has the release clause and it was always expected that he would leave, nothing has changed there.  No if it happens, I don't think there is any conspiracy.  I just think Delph agonised over the decision, made it, slept on it for a few nights and changed his mind.  Unfortunately while doing so he will have made the reaction one heck of a lot worse than if he just decided to leave a week ago or let his contract run down.  I don't think there would be anything sinister in what he has done beyond indecisiveness, but that is not the reaction he is going to get.

If it is true of course.  And it does all seem bizarre.

As long as the money is spent wisely, which remains a consistent concern, although the links to the players are looking promising.

It will be interesting to read his comments. Likely tedious stuff along the lines of "too good an offer" yadda, yadda, yadda, which would wash, if this wasn't the second time he'd been caught out for telling some absolute whoopers.

If true, could be the  biggest U turn since BFR joined us from Sheffield Wednesday in the 90s

It's happening
I'm perplexed and beyond pissed off. My litre bottle of vodka purchase this morning will not last long
We're a mess

Why are 'we' a mess? Seriously, how can this possibly be the fault of anyone other than one man?

... and his agent, presumably.
I'm not saying it's an individuals fault (although the £8m release clause if questionable), however, losing our two best players only 3 weeks before the season starts is pretty messy by my books.

I hope the club shop will be refunding kids who had Delph 16 on their new shirts since last Saturday

Oh f#ck his agent, Delph is a grown man who makes his own decisions.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? If this is true, he's got the self-awareness of a toddler. I just meant he must be getting some fucking appalling advice...

Soton were stripped of their best players last year...doomed to relegation. Looked what happened...it's not the end of the world.

They didn't get a total of £8m for three key players (vlaar cleverley delph) with which to rebuild

If it is true then you have to presume City have come back in with a better offer of wages.  Obviously they want him and won't take no for an answer.
