"Barely good enough for Aston Villa"?

Is Paul Franks moonlighting?

Shaun Wright Philips never bottled a big money move to improve himself. Excellent career so far.

"Barely good enough for Aston Villa"?

I was flattered that he thought so highly of us.

In Franksie World, if Delph had left Villa he would have instantly been transformed from being a player who was never good enough for the England squad in a million years to being a world class player whose departure had plunged us into a terminal crisis.

Could that article be any more patronising to Aston Villa? Are Liverpool, Spurs and Man City really bigger than Villa...or just have more financial resources at the moment? Looks like our latest promotional campaign to enforce our identity as a big club didn't work.

Time for Delph to ram those words down the secret footballers throat. Of course, in 6 months time and with Delph doing the business for club and country the secret footballer will be telling us all what a great player he is and always was.  "Going to ground to easily" what's that all about?

A few points

Man City are richer than us not bigger

Maybe , just maybe Delph believes in what is happening at Villa and wants to build on something here at Villa with the apirations of Champions League

and finally

Last time I looked WE are in the same League as Manchester City and he WILL be competing in it along with maintaining his England career,

I don't like how they insinuate that he wont be playing and challenging himself against the best players by not signing for City...last time I checked they were in the same league as us, play in the same competitions, but have bought themselves a few games in the Champions League.

I think James Milner has the final say on this having shown his "lack of ambition" by deciding to move away from City...after all he is an England international midfielder who struggled to keep a regular place in the City side and has now moved to a smaller club so he can get more game time...

Quote
Milner is clearly frustrated by a view, offered by some supporters, that giving up on the City fight showed a lack of ambition.

“I would probably disagree with that,” he said. “Some people may look at it the other way and say I was not willing to sit on the bench for half a season, I wanted to play every single game and fight for a shirt and play that way, and I couldn’t see that happening at Man City.

“You can look at it any way you want, you can go away and write a story and twist it any way you want to put it. We know how it works and I can only tell you my thoughts and see it as a positive, and other people can look at it as a negative.

“Obviously it was a difficult decision. It took me a long time to make it. I probably changed my mind on a weekly basis at times. The fans were amazing with me at City and that made it very tough for me as well. City is also a great club to play football at. But playing football are the key words in that sentence."

"Barely good enough for Aston Villa"?

Is Paul Franks moonlighting?

Actually he is.  I was at a sports quiz last night at Mosley Rugby club, Paul Franks was the quiz master!

When taking up a set of answers too him I asked in all seriousness "Do you think Benteke will leave the Villa"  He answered as if it was a revelation, "Yes, yes I do". He didn't detect any hint of sarcasm when I stated he should have mentioned that at some time in the last 3 months.  He went on to say, "I'm surprised Delph didn't go".  "Don't you mean disappointed" I said.  He gave me a confused look as I walked away.

That aside, we didn't win the years supply of Greene King IPA that was the first prize.

I don't know which would be more satisfying, the Franksy bating or not being compelled to drink 12 months worth of that pish.

If nothing else that secret footballer article should provide a bit of motivation for Delph next season.

Who to be fair would have no concept of being loved by his own supporters or playing regular international football, so you can understand why he's confused by all of this.

That's what the evidence points to I believe. Reads very much like the grumblings of someone who wishes he'd been in the same position as Delph but found a level and remained there.
