Like everybody else I am shocked and I don't know what to think. Perhaps he has been told information that we are not privvy to. Perhaps the takeover is imminent. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

Anyway Fabian Delph I am glad you are staying.

You will find other sites linking it with Randy apparently flying in...

That could be. It seems pretty well known that the 2 have a good relationship and Delph is meant to be very grateful to Lerner for his help during his injury rehab. It's meant to be why he agreed a new contract (seemingly with the clause) rather than walk away on a free in the first place.

As for the Evil, maybe its Villa correspondents should be redeployed doing something more akin to their abilities.  I'm sure there are plenty of summer fêtes and flower shows they could cover.

If this transfer saga was purely created and circulated in the media with no truth in the matter whilst Delph was doing his fatherly duties to his family then a few ppl need to be losing their jobs. Absolutely disgraceful underhand journalism if this is the case.

Last minute change of heart or the press jumping the gun?
Whatever it was we still have our best midfielder.

I don't feel let down by Delphs statement a few months ago, because I just don't take much of what they say seriously,
its all just marketing bullshit and spin, I doubt any footballer has ever written down more than a couple of sentences themselves, its not that they are liers they are just part of a system of corporate flannelling

when we sign a new player and he comes in with ' its really great to be here, villa are a massive club' we all think oh he seems genuinely glad to be at VP, but in truth its just football small talk, theres no point taking it to heart, yes they will be glad at a certain level, wages big club, but in reality don't expect any loyalty because villa arnt good enough at the moment to command that

Giggs Scholes were loyal to Man Utd, were they ?
or maybe it was because they were both great players playing at a club that won the league more times than not, bet they wouldn't have been so loyal if they were at Crystal Palace

for those who feel hurt and let down by Delph and are over the age of 14 then you need to get a grip, footballers talk shit, and they will carry on talking shit,
the next one that comes through the door at VP and starts telling everyone his delight in joining just don't take it to heart,
the only thing that really matters is a players performance on the pitch, what they say is on the same level as what a politician says

Delph has been great for Villa, a good captain and always gave 100% on the pitch, and that's what I will remember
I am very disappointed to see him go as I rate him highly, but I never believed a word he said about villa being 'his club'

Can see your point of view John e, but he didn't need to give out that load of tosh, just say you have signed a new contract and leave it at that.
Really no need to state how great the club is, how much he loves and owes the club something, when it's obviously utter bollox.
For me, it has changed my whole opinion of the money grabbing scumbag.
Hope he spends his time on the bench and loses his England spot, total wanker.

A large piece of humble pie from me.
Not sure why he changed his mind and do not care.
Glad your still around, can't wait to see you and Gueye dominating midfield.

Question I have is, why the change of heart?
Maybe we've upped his package ?

The realisation that he would not be playing first team football, spend nine months getting splinters in his bum and watch his England career go to waste?

Wife has told him she would hate being anywhere near Manchester?

I'm in Chichester and that's too bloody close to Manchester

Perhaps him and his Mrs took a drive around Manchester looking for areas they might live in, realised what a pokey little dump it is, and decided England's ninth biggest city didn't offer enough for them?

A little bit of alleged light shedding from the Meaning Evil:

"The captain was 100% on the way to Manchester City this time yesterday but Villa officials say he had a complete change of heart.

Delph was due for a medical at City today after agreeing personal terms yesterday but he decided not to attend and stay at Villa."
