Can see your point of view John e, but he didn't need to give out that load of tosh, just say you have signed a new contract and leave it at that.
He certainly didn't pick his words particularly well, but I'm guessing that he didn't ask the club to broadcast it on a big screen and make a massive deal out of it.

Well if he didn't expect the film that was shot to be used for publicity purposes, it's the most naive and unbelievable reaction to being filmed since Sharon Stone absent-mindedly forgot her Alan Whickers in Basic Instinct.

Exactly. It wasn't a spur of the moment answer it was a scripted and staged statement.

I think any last vestiges of faith I had in modern footballers has been well and truly smashed by this.

The fucking wanker.

Yeah, the comments were obviously bs and is quite annoying, but to be fair he saw the job out last season and at least got us some money towards his replacement.

If and when the deal goes through, I wonder if the club will make some kind if statement regarding the fanfare surrounding the re-signing of his contract?

I'm not suggesting they should, but just wondering if they will. Like I said yesterday, for them to have his picture in the new kit photo's only for this to happen a couple of days later could possibly suggest it was something they wasn't expecting.

Modern football eh? And then they question the fickle nature of supporters.

I have slept on it now and having had a further think this morning about it all I am quite clearly able to say Delph is a fucking weasel, a turd who will go the way of Johnson, Rodwell, Sinclair and a few others at City. Good luck wanker on announcing your retirement from competitive football.

Apart from money perhaps Man City have given him a load of bullshit.  They could hardly say we just want you here because it ticks the box of homegrown talent , now go and keep that bench warm.

They didn't know he had an £8m release clause?

Then again nothing would surprise me about this lot.

The club are guilty of a few things;

1) the historic failure to address his contract earlier than they did.
2) the triumphalism of announcing his re-signing to ourselves and the media, aware of the inclusion of the less than market value release clause and what it's effect would be
3) the apparent naivety to, six months down the line, believe the deciept to be true, hence the inclusion at the centre of the marketing campaign.

The factor at 1 left the club with few cards to play when it came to the release clause. That's not Fox's fault and I don't think there is any criticism ultimately of this. It's the outright stupidity of the balance of 2 and 3 that make you shake your head at the club. They were complicit in a lie and shoulder the responsibility for that.

Delph is a Hodge/Downing level twat, the lying little bastard.

Of course they knew about it. I'm just suggesting that they maybe didn't expect him to move on as soon as he has after what he said.

Yup, that's pretty much where I am. And although Fox bears no responsibility for point 1, that remains by a big margin the worst decision in all of this.

He isn't good as Milner, Barry or Young.

We'll be fine.

Spot on, he'll end up at Sunderland in 3-4 years time.
