I have a hard time believing Villa would front their new kit campaign having Delph out front with the armband, only to sell him off a few days later.

I think it's explained on here before, something like  because the market us so small, the bookies have to close it in case Barry doesn't take the penalty.

If it is true, and if it is 8m, then it can only be because he agreed to sign the new deal just as a way to ensure we got something for him and also to ensure he wasn't priced out of a move.

Otherwise the figure would be way higher.

Which makes not only all the hoo-haa we had on the screen pre-match, and all the stuff Delph said about "this is my club" look rather empty, it also makes whoever thought of this particular image look a bit daft:



An 8m release figure can only possible be a compromise with this in mind, which means they must pretty much have known he'd be off.

Strikes me as if they think we're fucking stupid.
