If 49 goals in 101 games involves going missing for chunks of 3 seasons, then we need to sign more like him. Injuries, playing when not fully fit, and playing in one of the most boring teams in the league for 3 years, and yet he still averages 1 in 2......what more do you want?

Stats can be used to mask things like we've had a terrible 5 years but we've been to Wembley 4 times in 5 years.  I'd rather the goals be a bit more spread out tbh as I'm getting bored of sitting through season praying that Benteke will have a goal spree in the final stages of the season.  It'll probably happen given time for him but going back to my original point before people took a Delph thread to a Benteke thread.

I can understand saying Delphs alleged buyout clause being 8 million  is low but you can't say £32.5 million is low for Benteke.

It certainly seems there's some truth in it all.

Interesting reading. Again, like Benteke he's better off having a full season here and then leave after the euro's if he still want;s to and if the offer's still there. Mind you, I personally don't think he's good enough for the champions league yet anyway.

I wouldn't have thought Pogba would affect any deal for delph, there aren't many homegrown players of delphs quality available at his release clause price, its pennies to them.

Of course it would. Delph would fancy himself to out fernando or fernandinho in the centre of their MF to partner Yaya but would he fancy himself to keep a 70m record signing on the bench? I doubt it very much. I dont think he is the sort of person who would be happy starting 5-10 games a season

Now we have it from a current player, directly, that Delph has asked him about moving to Man City. Bugger.

How good is Pogba? I genuinely don't know. I know he's raved about though. I mean this:

---------Pogba---------Yaya--------
?------------------Silva---------------------Sterling
--------------------Aguero-----------------

Yaya simply doesn't dig in regularly enough for that to work against better teams. They will fail again if he keeps trying it. Then again Pogba could be a one man army I don't really know. But make that a 3 and Delph would get in (before any other signing anyway). Depends what my man Pellers is thinking.

I think those comments from Richards can pretty much end the debate about whether Delph is considering leaving, he clearly is. We've just got to hope he decides against it now.

Just about to post the same, sure Barcelona are out because of their ban. Not sure about Real - they normally buy the hottest player every year

I'm normally a miserable old bugger, but I'm reading between the lines that Richards has told him to think twice about joining them.

But he's from Yorkshire, he will do the opposite

Barça have just signed Arda Turan from Atletico in a similar midfield role. They're working round the ban by making signings, but not being able to play them until January.

The whole Barcelona ban thing really is an utter farce
