How much of a goer is this supposed transfer? I want to see Delph in some funky hat leaving Manchester Airport before I even consider him going.

I think the dye was cast a few weeks ago, when he said he wouldnt try to persuade Benteke to stay. That's not great from a captain

Do Leeds have a sell-on clause due to them if this goes through? That would mean we've made a loss on him. Hard to take when he ultimately (after much support from our medical staff, Randy and the fans) did live up to the potential that made us shell out £7-8m five years ago.

I imagine for a young player it would be a percentage of any increase in value, so if it was it would be £nil.

Is there anything other than media gossip to support any of this?

If he goes, he goes & we'll replace him. But I think it'll be a huge mistake on his part.

Regarding Delph's comments after the contract signing, 1) there's just talk at the moment, there's not even been confirmation that the clause exists; 2) his contract signing and attitude following were huge factors in keeping us up; 3) Is it not possible for his comments to have been genuine but also have a desire to test himself at the highest levels and see what he can achieve?

Exactly.

Can't argue with that.

Wasn't the idea that Fabian felt he owed Lerner from how he treated him in the first couple of years of his contract and that he couldn't just walk away on a free after that. So signing a new contract with a release clause that would be triggered with a bid of £xm being the solution.

That's fine. But the club getting £8m or even £10m is still a very low valuation. Why not £15m which would be more palatable and still below his value. But it's more all of the gushing love after he signed. It will be ring quite hollow if at the first bid meeting the buy out clause he leaves.

In January he held all the cards. Most players would have held out and walked for nothing; this way we get some money at least - probably half his true value, which is a compromise of sorts.

all good if you choose to look at the situation rationally which I reserve the right not to do.

Seriously though and I said somewhere else with the players we seem to be linked with it would appear that we are after much better quality players with the money we have (whatever that is). Losing Benteke and Delph would be tough but I'd have confidence we wouldn't replace them a bunch of Tonev's.

Indeed. I will be disappointed if he leaves, but don't feel any level of antagonism to either him or the club.

Ok so I went on google and looked at the top 20 or so news articles about the Delph story.  Most of them don't bother to say where they got the story from, simply citing 'sources', and those that do all link to a single article on goal.com.

So this all comes down to how reliable you think goal.com is.

Is that the National Express, when your life is a mess?

Actually, there was a survey done a few years ago on the accuracy of media transfer gossip. It concluded that the Daily Mail was the best, with an accuracy rate of 4%.

Quite. What I've learned is to dismiss everything as bollocks, which makes me right 96 times out of a hundred.
