I would be surprised if anyone who matters at the club is even aware of it. You can't keep up with all the inventions and rumors out there. I don't see why they should say anything. The only thing I expect from them to announce in the next couple of weeks is another signing or two.

I should imagine that there will be more comments coming out of the club when training starts on the 6th July and right people are around to make statements.

There bloody needs to be.  The club is taking a bit of a kicking in the last 48 hours, while Delph is being made to look dishonest.  I guess we'll have to wait until they deign to  sheepishly slide a statement onto the club website.

This is all getting a bit ridiculous. An uncorroborated story is published and somehow it's all the Villa's fault

I'm not saying its the clubs fault.  I'm saying that the wall of silence they've erected isn't helpful.  When are they going to understand that their silence only promotes rumour & speculation.

They just ain't learning.  As I posted earlier, its mushroom management of the fans yet again.

Yes you are saying it's the club's fault. That's exactly what you're saying.

Football clubs tend not to respond to every rumour, and thank God they don't otherwise the internet would explode, yet this only appears to be an issue where Villa are concerned.

So, what has changed since the end of the season.

His contract is still the same and the reason for inserting the clause (if there is one) is still the same.  At the end of the season Delph apologised to the fans about the cup final and said "see you all next season".  Interest in him is no different now than it has ever been.

Delph is on holiday and no doubt totally switched off from anything to do with football.  Sherwood has pretty much limited himself to only commenting on Richards.  The club is supposedly in the final stages of due diligence on a sale and Fox is quite rightly staying away from the media.

The media have to keep churning out stories about each club during the close season and without official comments can only speculate and in the case of the rags, are not unknown to manufacture stories.  Everybody can only believe what they feel is right until something happens, or does not happen.

That could just have easily been footyskillz or sillhillvilla on current form.

The minute they start to respond to one story, they'll be expected to comment on just about every piece of journalistic crap that gets published, maybe not by you, but the instant precedent is set, there's no going back.

SkyBet make him 1/3 to start the season with Man City, 5/2 to start with Villa.

Gutting.

EDIT:  in fact they make him more likely to leave than Benteke, who's nearly 50/50 between us and the scousers (with them slight favourites)

If I had a pound for every time someone's wrote ' if they responded to every bit of speculation ' blah blah blah

I'd be retired and living in Antibes

If I had a pound for every time someone wrote "the club need to make a statement", I could buy Antibes.
