It would be very foolish not to get Delph signed up on a long contract this summer.  We're scratching around to find two players to complement him in midfield so we do not need the uncertainty of him winding down his contract.

You put a couple of half decent midfielders next to Delph, you'd never hear anyone ask for Milner to come back.

Milner is and was a much better player. Haven't heard anyone bidding 26m for Delph. Id love to have them both

Milner wasn't doing the work of two, sometimes three players.

KEA reminds me of Petrov......but only in the fact he is normally knackered after 60 mins.

Better, probably yes, but not a 'much better player.  You've got to remember that Milner was playing in a lot stronger squad than Delph is now.
If we're not careful he could run down his contract and I would not be surprised if Arsenal took him on a squad player.  I think he's close to that level of quality.

Let's hope he doesn't have a life threatening disease.

Personally I don't there is any chance that we won't be offering him a new deal in the next few months. It's exactly what we have done with all of our other young players. Delph has indicated he wants to stay and his performances have been superb.

I don't. Fab is more skillful, Milner's more of a plodder.  Delph with Barry (current or past) and a Petrov in his prime would see us battling with Everton and Spurs for a best of the rest position.

If Delph continues to weigh in with goals and he refines his tackinly he can be a top player. He's been excellent for us.

he needs to weigh in with a few tap ins too suggesting he is making those late runs into the box. It's fantastic that he scores stunning goals which is nice to have in the bag, but he needs to add a threat of scoring mundane goals also.

Hopefully his confidence to make that sort of run to 'pick up the pieces' and score tap ins will increase with the sort of goal he scored last night....did he enjoy it or what!

Be fair, if you can't get a bit over-excited at rocketing one into the top corner like that you probably shouldn't be playing football, that's one of those goals that you look back on years later and still get a bit of a buzz over.

That goal last night is one of my favourite goals ever. Fantastic strike and I'm so pleased it was Delph, a player I've been going on about to people for ages!

Give him a new contract and get some good midfielders around him.
