Yes I think it's really important that our players know they can receive International recognition if they play for Villa. I appreciate there's the risk of tapping up, but at the same time it's as a big a risk to Villa if players feel they need to move to get selected by England. If our players perform they should be selected.

Is my answer as well. Plus I like the fact that we hold the record for supplying most England players.

England players dropping like flies with injuries today, wouldn't be surprised if some of our lads got well deserved call ups.

Do we still hold that or have utd overtaken us?

God I hope not, don't want to get them tapped up or injured.

I'm certain that we're still at least a team-full ahead

His close control is brilliant at times - two examples on Saturday, firstly in the first minute and the build up for Gabbys near miss, a lovely shuffle to give himself some space, and in the second half to dump the centre back on his arse before that curling shot.

He really is a quality player, and it think a quality addition to the midfield this month would get even more out of him.

Too true.  He carries the midfield sometimes.  If we had the same/similar on the right of the three then it would really stretch the opposition.  Not many teams would be able to cope athletically with two players of Delph's speed and work rate.

He carries our midfield all of the time. If we put better players around him, he'll start to get more goals and assists.

I'm still a fan of Westwood although admit his form has dropped from last year.  KEA is the obvious guy to improve upon.

He needs proper creative midfielder and/or winger moving into good positions, against Arsenal he had some great runs but he had no one to pass the ball.

The thing about Delph is that you genuinely feel he could be effective as a more attacking midfielder if moved a bit forward.  What that does is give Lambert great options as if he can get a quality midfielder in, then should he be defensive we play him with Westood and push Delph forward, but if he's more a number 10 then Delph can play deeper alongside Westwood.

To get best out of Delph, I think he'd need someone like Neo-Coker as defensive mid, and then creative attacking mid in front of him so he'd get more freedom and space to do those runs of his.

Villa need to sort a new contract for Delph. His current deal runs out in 2015, so hopefully they will act soon - only 18 months left like Hoolahan at Norwich. Fair play to Houllier for signing him on a 4 year contract in March 2011 when he was going through a serious of injury set backs.
