With Townsend, Sterling and Barkley in the England squad, I would be well pissed off if I was Delph. He has been excellent both the back end of last and the start of this season.

Just said the same thing to my mate, who supports Everton, and to be fair, he's bemused at to how Barkley has got a call after two Premier League games.

The same could also be said for a few of our English players.

Sterling? So England have gone from picking players not on form to players who have'nt this season played at all. Hmm.

Its the only MON signing that's still left ?

a year ago I thought it was a waste of £6 million but he's looking excellent value at the moment.

Mon signed  Guzan too.

Pedant alert. Lambert signed Guzan. He was a free agent after being released at the end of McLeish's season in charge.

But MON initially signed him, TSM never played him and signed Given and nearly lost him and Lambert re-signed him. So technically saying MON signed him is correct.

Who played in place of Given when he was injured ?

England squad selections are a joke now. Barkley may be a promising talent but this promotion is way too soon. And Andros Townsend?! Ridiculous.

And Andros Townsend?! Ridiculous.
He's probably been Spurs best player so far this season and was very good for QPR at the end of last.

There are plenty more players in this squad more worthy of ridicule than Townsend.

Yeh, Townsend isn't a good one to pick on. He's been very good and is keeping out some players with loftier reputations on merit. If you want to have a laugh then Cleverley, Sterling, Young, Barkley are better targets

@RobbieSavage8: And on England Delph for villa has been good 10 games towards end last season and so far this .. Barkley just 2/3 games this season ?

@RobbieSavage8: Very surprised agbonlahor is not in squad ahead of Ashley young or Defoe to that matter ?

Colour me surprised. Savage bigging up Villa players. He is right though.
Some of the dross in that squad is frightening and frustrating. The English games in a bit of a state. The sad part is, there's a few players in there who could genuinely make us very competitive. I rate Sturridge a lot. I think now he's getting regular games up front he's going to be a real force for club and country.
Gabby would have been a cracking option to have on the bench too.

Westy hasn't started the season brilliantly but he's more worthy of a place than Barkley and Cleverly in CM.

As always, there's no rhyme or reason to the England squad selection; we just seem to make it up on the hoof.

Woy will be gone within a couple of months when England fail to qualify & he'll deserve it. Never liked the sour faced cnut anyway.

I weep at this England squad. The selection is the poorest I can remember and are these really internationals:
Fraser Forster, John Ruddy

Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Tom Cleverley,   Raheem Sterling, Andros Townsend,
Strikers: Jermain Defoe, Rickie Lambert, Danny Welbeck,

Thank you Roy! I am very grateful our players are not risked in crappy international football. Wilmots plz take note and drop Benteke, Lukaku is a much better option.
