He's indecisive, rather than a true rotter of Hodge proportions.

Or even Platt, who was preparing for a move at least 12 months before he got one.

I'm not aware of multiple transfer requests going in as per Gareth Barry either.

I'd take it as a compliment that he was generally torn on the matter, despite Citeh's current status and ours.  Like Milner, the club did seem to mean a lot to him, but he had to move to progress.

I don't wish him harm at all, particularly with the run of injuries he's had before.  He was one of the few brightspots in a dismal couple of years.

I admit, I will find it mildly amusing if he spends most of the time being benched up there and his In-ger-lund career hits the skids as a consequence.  But I reckon he has enough about him to make a go of things there.

I think we all get that he will make more money and win more stuff elsewhere but he broke his word in an incredibly public manner.

That used to mean something and fans of most pesuasions recognise that even if an awful lot of journalists are writing that 'everyone would do it'.

Like a lot of my hatred it is really faux and quite jovial on my part. I will find the intense atmosphere and anger towards him pretty funny.

I actually agree with KevinGage. He's been a bit of a plonker, but wishing injury on him? Christ. People should get a grip.

I also don't agree with the people saying he moved for money. Of course he didn't - he left to join a club that has a better chance of winning trophies.

Afraid I'm in the "get over it"  camp.  He changed his mind he spouted a load of bull, he moved on perhaps for better things perhaps for the money, probably both.  He's a professional footballer what do you expect?  I don't feel slighted or embarrassed or made to look a fool by him in any way.   I'd be a little concerned about my sense of perspective if I felt any of those things.  The only one made to look a bit daft in the saga was him.  I just shrug my shoulders and remind myself it's the nature of the game and those who play it these days.  If you are going to take such things so personally then you're in for a lot of disappointment, frustration  and anger.

The difference between 15million and 26million had nothing to do with it then?

He even said as much when referring to what was best for his family.  That there just confirmed that it was about the money mainly.

He's made himself a bit of a laughing stock really and a lot of time spent on the bench will seem like being stuck in purgatory. Good luck to him, he'll need it.

The lying twat. He'll never be one of us.

He's clearly going to hope for the best deal possible. But come on, most players who aren't Villa fans will see Man City as a more attractive option, sadly.

I'm not even one of the people who are really upset about this but if you can't see how people knowing that's true but then being told it wasn't and then told actually it is in the space of a week is going to lead to a lot of very pissed off fans then you're just naive.

That's not how I see it.  He was made for life whichever club he played at.  Maybe it's about, "Look what you Dad won when he was a footballer son..."

Oh I was pissed off too. I just think that in the cold light of day you can understand the move from Villa to Man City and that I wouldn't wish injury on him. That's all I've argued.

I just hope he's fit enough to sit on the bench when we play them.

I have no problem wishing it him either - because I don't and never will. He lied to us, he took us for fools and I hope he never plays again.

For someone who generally talks with so much reason and sense, it's pretty sad to hear you come out with stuff like that.

This was no master plan.  The fella changed his mind.  Let's get over it.

He makes us look fools and we're the ones who should get over it? Good luck with that one.

Unless anyone's been daft enough to go and get a tattoo of him, how on earth has he made us look fools?
