Quote
Wolves U21 0-2 Villa U21 - GOAL - 48mins: Great counter-attacking play from Villa. Some space opened up for Andras Stieber on the left hand side. The Hungarian motored into the penalty box and fired into the bottom corner with conviction.
I wonder if Stieber will feature at some point? His brother hasn't done too badly since he left. He's appeared for the Hungarian national side.

Who are our best prospects atm? Just saw Dan Crowley for Arsenal, looks class and was poached off us. Bit pissed off to be honest.

We tried very hard to keep Dan Crowley. He had been at the club since he was about 7 years old.  Maybe he and his father where not the easiest to deal with.  Unfortunately he is a brilliant player.

We have some very good prospects ourselves. Jack Grealish (who is still young enough to play in the U18s) Jordan Graham and Callum Robinson are all capable of making the first team one day.

Of the current youth team I like Kevin Toner who is a very aggressive Irish Centre Back who likes a tackle and a header.

We lost 1-0 this morning to Leicester but we had a few U16s playing.

Grealish has tweeted that he is coming back from his loan.
Maybe getting a spot on the bench?

His loan is up and Villa had been talking to numerous clubs. We asked him where he wanted to go and he said that he wanted to stay at Notts County and help them survive. If we're going to start involving him sooner than we expected, presumably there's been a change of opinion or else why talk to the other clubs? The most likely scenario is that he goes back to Notts next week, perhaps having been on the bench Monday night. However, he's clearly been maturing and with our lack of creativity it might just be that Lambert thinks he should be involved or at least delay the decision and get a look at him in training. Either way, it's good that the loan has been such a success that there's a very genuine discussion about promoting an 18-year old to the first team.

I see no issue with him coming back to Villa for 3-4 days and then going back out to Notts County for a few more months, especially if he spends those few days with the first team, the goal which should always be in mind is that he's on loan to get him ready to play for our first team, a progression check in the middle of that seems like a good idea to me.

I've heard he might play for the Youth Team at Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup game on Wednesday night.
If he isn't going to get games in the first team I would hope he goes back to County.

As for a lack of pace and strength, for a Youth Team player which he still is, he has a lot of upper body strength and holds players off quite easily. He is deceptively quick too. But he has a change of pace and doesn't run in straight lines.

Jordan Graham is very similar on the ball with the ability to go past opponents at will with a step over and a change of pace.  Jordan is coming back from a long lay off with injury and hopefully he can find a club where he can get some first team football too.

Is Jordan 18 too or is he a more senior prospect, like Carruthers?

Jordan is 18 but the year above Grealish. Grealish can play for the U18s where Jordan and Callum Robinson are one year out of the Youth team so U19s this year. Samir and Daniel Johnson and Graham Burke are a couple of years older still.  It does make a difference when judging players.

DJ and Burke need to get out on loan and make an impression or else I think they will be released soon.

Burke was really highly rated at one time too. I think there were rumours of Man United trying to nick him.

Good to see Jordan has time on his side, especially after his injury. I always think it bodes well for a player's development if you can get them out on loan as soon as possible. We can probably get a good couple of years of first team football (hopefully taking them up through the divisions as they mature) before they are brought into our first team.
