Sad to hear that he's passed away aged 80. Played for Villa in the 60's. RIP

What's the H&V policy regarding player deaths ?

Should they all get a thread of their own ?

I first mentioned Woosnam's passing yesterday in the Celebrity Deathwatch Thread.

Earlier today, someone else posted notification in an existing thread and now we have this new one.

Can a Mod/Admin please advise of the standard procedure

Thanks

EDIT - I see that there's now yet another Phil Woosnam thread over in "HEITS".

NASL founder, ex-West Ham and Villa midfielder Phil Woosnam passed away today in the States aged 80.
Just before my time but older Villains will have fond memories of the Welsh international.
RIP.

I remember being pleased whenwe signed him, as not only had I heard of him, but also had a Barretts Sweet Cigarette card of him at West Ham, and so I could pretend he was wearing a Villa shirt.

As shallow as I am, I did think his crew cut was rather uncool.

As a player, I have nothing but good memories of him, and I seem to remember that we replaced him with Peter Broadbent who seemed past it to me, and all part of the rot that had set in.

He was the first player we signed that I had previously heard of, can't think how that could be but there you go.  I remember seeing him on his debut and being impressed, was one of our better payers during his time with us, which wasn't difficult.

RIP

can not remember seeing him play, but remember reading about him in the Programes as the Villa trail blazer in the states converting those dammed yankees to a civillised sport.
Was he at Portland Timbers or is the memory playing games ?

One of our most underrated players,a really great player. He was badly missed when he left for US. I'm sure he 'starred' in an episode of 'Crossroads' along with other members of the team for some visit to the motel.I really shouldn't have admitted seeing that.
RIP.
