The key element in this affair is the relationship between agent Kismet - and player Benteke.

Benteke comes over as a simple soul - Kismet not quite that.

Benteke has been 'guided' by this chancer since he was a little kid - grooming one might otherwise call it. Kismet may well have spent every moment since Benteke started coming good trying to drum up interest in his one big asset.

It leaves a sour taste.  Use up the majority of your transfer budget on an unknown kid.  Stand by that unknown kid when all are doubting.  Play that unknown kid in front of an experienced top class striker.  Watch with pride as unknown kid proves you right and starts coming good.  Gasp in disbelief as the once unknown kid immediately asks for transfer.

Benteke came good for Villa - but let's be honest - he a bit rough and tumble - Lionel Messi he ain't - we can and will find as good if not better players - let's hope they prove to be better people.
He is by a long distance the best striker we've had since the 1980s.

Dalian Atkinson? Dean Saunders? Dwight Yorke?

Yep, true enough, but then again, if you were Benteke, you'd think he'd done a pretty good job. Not long ago you're on loan to Kortrijk and then Mechelen, not really going anywhere, then you have one season at Genk, do OK, then you're playing in the PL, earning 20k a week, and everyone's telling you you're one of the best strikers around.

You can see why he might think his agent is pretty good, after all.

Yes, better than all of those. He has got a better goal ratio. Ask any defender who they would least like to play against and I reckon they'd say Benteke.

I actualy did'nt realise Benteke was his agent's only client.
